PE 2 years ago. Oxygen levels falling into 80's then back up to 97. please help

in April 2013 I had blood clots in my left leg and PE in my left lung. was then diagnosed with Factor V Leiden. my O2 levels are usually 97. a few months ago i started having these gasping for air spells these always happen when i am sitting or laying down. yesterday morning i woke up and had confusion, nausia, could not see stright and by balance was so far off i was falling down. to make a long story short i put on a pulse ox and an O2 tank i watched my O2 levels fall to 80s somtime in the 70's then they would come back up to the upper 90's, I put the O2 flow to a constant 4 the O2 levels still fell just as fast then came back up. I noticed that the second i nodded off i woke up suddenly and the O2 levels would start to fall - i cant stop it no matter how much O2 i throw at it. in the afternoon things got a bit better but O2 levels somtimes still dropped into the 80's causing gasping. maybe these O2 issues have somthing to do with my really bad headaches, tingling and burning in my hands and extreame tiredness. Does any one have any Idea? I am at a loss....

    Are you a smoker?

have you had a repeat ECG and lung function tests recently? If not ask your lung specialist to recheck, perhaps (only a guess), you are throwing off recurrent small PE's or have some pulmonary hypertension ( not the same as normal hypertension, specific to the lungs). Only a soecialist can help you to diagnose this condition, is there a special lung centre in your area? If so might be worth asking for a referral, however, with your current diagnosis I would assume that you are already in good hands. If you have a respiratory nurse, that could be a good first contact to explain your situation.
