Pectoralis Major Muscle Stiffness in the left

Hi All,

I would like to seek some advice. I have experienced pain initially from my neck all the way to my upper back and onto my hand. This was because of poor posture and long periods of them sitting at the computer. I am undergoing treatment for my back and arm pain (mild) and all is good. I noticed a very hard or so you say stiffness in the pectoralis major muscle for my chest wall. If i feel the difference between the left and right, the left seems to be a lot harder than the right. And it also making it look imbalanced. Now the catch is, this hardness in the chest muscle developed quickly, and its painless however it is making me worry. I was trying to explain to several doctors and no one seems to benefit me or give me the solution to stop it. I have been currently advised to do a CT Scan for this place and the back along with my arm but I am not convinced yet. As CT scans are done for far more major purposes.Do I need to do it and show the doctor? Although he said this could be nothing, but the picture was unclear to him. I have done the MRi already but it was mainly for the cervical spine. I was worried that why this happened to me and I am not sure whether to think its from cigarettes or something else. I can explain to you further if anyone is interested to drop me a quick reply. And if you know some good medication to relax this muscle would be great (of course safe medication and not a bunch of side effect).

Thanks

BR,

I think you are very much in the wrong forum here - no-one here can help with your questions I'm afraid. We all have a form of autoimmune rheumatism/arthritis.

      Hi eileen,

If this is the wrong forum then where I can I post my inquiry? And regarding what you said i googled it and it didnt make much sense because it states that it can affect the entire body. Please help

Your description sounds like very tense, spasmed muscles.  Polymyalgia is an inflammatory disease, one of the ,major features being that it affects both sides of the body equally.  Have you consulted with a physiotherapist?  They can use a number of treatments to release the spasmed muscles, and if this is the cause of your pain you should find some relief quite quickly.  A physiotherapist can assess you to see if these overly tight muscles could be a cause of your pain.

      Hi Anhaga,

Its not a pain actually its painless, however I feel that it is stiff/hardened from the top of the pectoralis major muscle till the under armpit. I have explained it to a physiotherapist and he has done for me a session of K laser and electronic puncture to relief the stiffness but its still the same. Do you think its a major thing?

Can't offer a medical opinion, only tell you my own experience, which was that dry needling (google it||) really helped me.  A physiotherapist did it, took several sessions.

Hi Mohammed, as has been said this forum can’t help you but the route you are advised to follow would be first, do the tests to enable clear diagnosis, return to the physician for consultation and treatment and referral to the therapists who can help you.
