Are you drinking a lot of water/tea? More than usual? I didn't find I went more; just found it harder to get there...

In the hospital, I was definitely peeing enough to fill a lake every couple of hours, but that's because I was on a saline drip as well as being allowed to drink stuff, which I did constantly...

Good fun isn't it. It's because of the blood thinning. A bottle or catheta come in handy! !!

Yup, it will be the blood thinners and the fact that it is such a chore to go to the loo at this stage. Don't worry it will get better and everything will become easier, just hang on in there. But remember to keep drinking plenty of fluids, it will help flush out everything that needs to come out.

Wishing you good and speedy recovery,

    Alison

Hi Vanessa - I guess it's different for everyone, but I found the first 2 weeks really had, then things began to improve. So hopefully you might feel better in a few days. It's a drag to keep going to the loo, but good to keep drinking (water 😉). Hang in there! I'm just over 3 weeks now and definitely aware I've turned a corner. X

I had my 2nd hip op 7 weeks ago and my first one in May this year and I definitely have problems getting to the loo on time,so now I find when I am going out for the day the team lady pants are very useful lol plus having a full hysterectomy has also weaken the bladder

I was feeling exactly the same, was worried that the spinal may have done something! This forum reassured me, hope it does the same for you. It is improving for me, but still going more frequently (and more urgently!) than usual. Three weeks tomorrow since my op, so another week on the blood thinners. Hoping for normality after that!

      Hang on in there!

    Hi Vanessa,

Interesting that nobody mentions this in the brochures, right -  After I was discharged from 1st THR in March, I contracted UTI .... oh what  fun - I was put on anti biotics right away .... the urgency and frequency stayed though and I was so worried, until I found this forum .... Apparently the Fragmin I had to inject myself  for 6 weeks caused it - still not sure why, but it became less after I stopped - So, with 2nd THR I was prepared -

Enough exercise for the first days righ .... goodness, for us there is no easy way, Colin !!! at least not a bottle, darling -

Also, I didn;t realize how inconvenient the toilet paper holder was placed ....

Good luck sweetheart - it will pass

    big warm hug

Renee, you are so right.  You know i have come to a conclusion that if they put down everything we go through in the so called booklet no one will ever have this operation eh.  Graham you really do need to write that book, i found we keep our spare loo rolls in the most inconveniant place to, ok to those that can bend. Hope every one had a great christmas, good luck this week guys.

Yes, I had that problem.  At least twice I had to go to the loo six or seven times during the night which is exhausting.  I'm not convinced that the blood thinners are to blame as mine cleared up well before I stopped taking them. It does pass off although it is horrendous whilst it lasts.

Aha - that old one - yes, it's yet another thing that no-one tells you about before the operation. twisted

I thought I was getting prostate problems, until i came on here and found out how common it is.

    Graham - 🚀💃
