Pelvic breaks and multi fractures

Hi, Judy here in USA. Diognosed PMR 5/2015. Started @ 20mg tapered to 7, and GCA hit 1/2016. Pred upped to 60' tapered now to 5. PMR is OK. I have many side effects. The worst I am suffering with now, is pelvic bones broke and other fractures. No falls or accidents. I am 75' Nd was extremely active and always healthy, and normal weight. Anyone else experience this. The pain almost unbearable!

Those fractures are calling for
more Calcium and a med for the bones and I would look for a GP or a bone specialist to get the proper prescription.
I have GCA no PMR associated with.
My concern is really just one - my vision.
I try to keep my thoughts positive seeing myself the way I want the outcome will be.
Hope you get many replies.
Take care,
iellen

Thank you much, Eileen. I do take calcium, and a couple other scripts fo bones. I have the Reclast, once a year injection at the hospital. I see so many Drs now, hard to keep track of them all. I see a spine specialist, as I have deteriorated disks and twisted spine. He's the one discovered the fractures, and sent me to Orthopedic surgeon (today). He wants one more MRI, as I have no cause for the fractures! Also developed a rectovaginal fistula! m told by that specialist that it's in no way related to PMR, or pred! I am to stay off feet, ABSOLUTELY as much as possible! We have 2 story home and basement, so I prepare for day prior to coming down. I crawl up! UGH. my sewing is in basement, so, no sewing. Boo hoo! I do try desperately to stay positive. I would love to get back to my active life. Again, I love this list, and all your input, Judy in MI, USA

How long have you been taking bone medications? They can, unfortunately, also be the cause of fractures, especially the unusual ones, as they inhibit proper bone turnover. I am so sorry you are experiencing such pain. I've sent you a private message, but you may be able to find more information, I just did a fairly quick search for zoledronate side effects.

You replied to iellen32 Judy - not me!
That's a bit nasty to say the least. Do hope it all heals up well - and all these doctors can find a good answer.
According to a Geriatric Medicine article having hearing loss and being left-handed are risk factors for pelvic fractures (amongst a whole load of others, including long term pred of course)
Can you not get a bed placed downstairs so you don't have to get around as much?

Hi Eileen H, I noticed it wasn't you, later, but all suggestions are appreciated. We have a big house, but not laid out for a bed. Then, both full baths are upstairs, and, of course, clothing. I make one trip down in AM and one up in PM. then sit, sit, sit!

Yes, I have lots of books, and my iPad. I sew and do machine embroidery, but that's out right, as my sewing room is in basement...stairs...UGH. I do knit and crochet. I dug out an afghan I started in 2005, going to see if I can pick up where I left off. Just need to get rid if the dratted pain! I miss my walking, and doing outside work, so much! Thanks for the reply, it sure helps to know there are others that truly understand. Bye for now, Judy
