Pelvic exam

As you know,I have VA,however I never really experianced the symptoms until after I had 2 pelvic exams within 2 months. I orginally just had itching and alot of irritation on the outside. How long does it take you to feel normal after an exam? I'm not talking pap, just pelvic. Thanks. My last exam was quite rough,it was a different doctor and i had discomfort for days afterwords. I still wonder if that rough exam spurred the symptoms i hadnt experianced before.

My second exam, she took some brush or something and scraped or rubbed the lining, then said does this burn..i said yes,i mean if you have vaginal atrophy, why wouldnt it. After that is when i started getting some internal symptoms. Also i think she used a larger speculum then she should have.

Sorry to hear about your experience Lee. I think you could complain ( trying not to say you should) I had a consultation that was badly managed including 3 people! one on her mobile! and three of them looking at my vag!! I hadn't recovered from the feeling of injustice and exposure after 3 weeks so I wrote and complained and it led to apologies in which they recognised my complaint as valid. How will that woman learn if you don't give her feedback? and you may feel better. Are you near Birmingham?

Was this at a teaching hospital? Or do consulatations usually involve different specialists? I've never experienced that myself. However, my pelvic exams have become close to unbearable despite small speculums and the doctor trying her best not to cause excess discomfort. That's why I'm ready to give them up. At 67 I'm thinking they may not be necessary. Dealing with the yearly mammograms is enough.
