Pelvic floor dysfunction/ painful bowel movements

Hi all

Bit of background.   I had a haemorrhoidectomy 5months ago after my pregnancy.   It’s been hell and a long long long recovery

(Still bleed a little and have pain during bm )

Now that I’ve healed I can see that I basically cannot have a bowel movement without straining.  Or I feel as though there’s more there

I’m reliant on softeners and movichol to just go.

My question is has anyone had issues with eliminating like this??      Most pelvic floor stuff is on bladder side of things. Not backside

I feel very tight and wonder what sort of physio would help

I am seeing a physio next week but just need some reassurance that my issue is in infant pelvic related?

Hey sorry your going through a tough time at moment, i don't think I can be much help how ever I wonder if you could help me ? What are you pelvic floor symptoms in regards to it affecting your bladder may I ask? Funny enough I've had chronic constipation since having my bladder issues so I'm convimced it's over tightness of the pelvic floor muscle.

I also have a haermorhoid that i got from giving birth but it never really caused me constipation just pain and bleeding. It's now obviously much worse since being constipated and with all the bladder issues on top.

      Hey there

I’ve read constipation is a sign of pelvic issues.  Especially if your diet is healthy enough but you still feel constipated like me

My issue is just with the elimination side of things   Like the stool is soft enough. Just the exit part is dysfunctional if that makes sense

I don’t have any bladder issues at all. Just backside.  So was confused abt my surg saying it’s pelvic floor but I guess the pelvic floor houses both bladder and rectum so makes sense

What r your plans to combat this??   Any specialist you can see??

      Xx

Hey thanks for your reply, sorry I must have read yoyr post wrong I thought you were having bladder problems along with the pelvic floor.

I guess everyone is different in regards to symptoms, yours sounds a bit like ibs maybe ? As I know that can affect the pelvic floor muscle.

I'm really baffled by my problem. As foods don't really affect me so I've ruled out interstitial cystits. I've had bloods done, all fine. Vaginal swabs today and next step is ultrasound of kidneys bladder and ovaries etc.

Then it's onto urology referral if no improvement. I believe stress is causing my problems as i have so much of it lol

Have your gp suggested anything for you?

Hi sez123. Have you been checked by a urogynaecologist surgeon yet? It sounds like you may have a 'rectocele' or prolapse of rectum through the back vaginal wall, (posterior prolapse)! How many children have you had and have you done heavy lifting, standing long periods or running? Anything which puts pressure on the pelvic floor can cause a prolapse especially after giving birth. Best wishes Pollyanna UK rolleyes

      Hi Pollyanna

I had a haemorrhoidectomy 3 weeks after birth.  So a surgeon has been in that area and didn’t say I had a rectocele or prolapse.

He just said at the time my pelvic floor was weak.

I’ll look into a Urogynecological surg too. I think that’s a good idea

      Thank you xx

Other than going to see a pelvic floor physio my dr hasn’t suggested anything else

I’ll let u know what the physio said on Tuesday

Yeah maybe see a urologist it’s prob an easy fix rather than suffering like this

      Xx
