Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy

i have been suffering with pudendal nerve pain in the vulva for 2 years. I am seeing a Pain Management Dr. I had a spinal epidural in the pudendal nerve. I was pain free for a month. The pain has returned and the Dr. wants me to have pelvic floor therapy. Has anyone had success with this type of therapy? I am taking 400 mg of Gabapentin and using a steroid ointment, Clobetasol twice a day.

Hi Marie,
Due to the pandemic, i did not go for pelvic therapy. However I had an spinal epidural in the pudendal nerve in late Feb. that has really helped. I also take 600 mg. of Gabapentin and use Clobetasol ointment daily.
I hope you find relief.

Hello Maryann, sorry to hear about your ongoing condition. I'm similar, just about 6 months in. Taking amitryptoline for it and using dermovate which I think it's the same as your steroid cream (I'm in the UK). I just wanted to point you to my post 'hyperawarness of vulva' where another user of this forum really gave me hope about pelvic floor theraphy. I haven't started it properly yet but I do some exercises at home before I can get assessed after the lockdown. I'm surprised our doctors don't suggest PT earlier on (none of mine, and I saw 5 different ones). It's definitely worth trying, there's plenty of highly qualified professionals which will give you personalised exercise and relaxation regimes. It must be quite powerful to have some control over the condition too- I always think if I had a trapped nerve in my back of course I would like to see a physio so it must be quite similar, there is hope 😃 Good luck to you.

Hi Marta,
i hope you are feeling better. i want to share what has helped me. I saw a vulvodynia specialist for 2 years. Her diagnosis was pudendal nerve entrapment causing vulva burning and pain. She finally told me that I should see a pain management Dr. to discuss getting a spinal epidural. I spoke to a friend who highly recommended a pain management Dr. who really helped her with her back issues.
I saw him in early Feb. and he said he was pretty sure he could help me. I had the spinal epidural in the pudendal nerve in late Feb. and the pain and burning are gone for the most part. He also prescribed 600 mg. of Gabapentin daily, 300 in the morning and 300 in the evening. I also use clobetasol ointment daily. I wish I went to this Dr. a few years ago. I hope you get the help you need.
