Penile Rash/Balanitis Not Responding to Treatment

This all began when it started to burn while I urinated. I went to the doctors because I thought it was a UTI, but the test came back negative. Got tested for STD's, the tests also came back negative.

Ok no big deal, I thought. Maybe this will go away on its own. I then started developing a rash on the tip of the penis and along the base that burned post urination and during ejaculation.

I did some research online and thought it was probably a yeast infection. Bought some Canesten and tried applying it twice a day for a week. I also took the pill (Fluconazole). This resulted in no change in the symptoms.

Went back to the doc, who then prescribed Fucidin H cream (Hydrocortisone 1% Fusidic Acid 2%). I rubbed it on twice a day for a week, no change.

Went to a Urologist who did an examination (but no further tests) and told me I could get circumcised, but apart from that offered no further solutions. Told me it could be prostatitis.

I then went to a Dermatologist, who looked at it and prescribed me Loprox anti-fungal cream with hydrocortisone (1%) told me to use it twice daily on the area for one month. I then switched to just Loprox because it appeared as though hydrocortisone was making the irritation worse. The Dermatologist told me to go see the urologist again if symptons don't improve.

I'm still applying Loprox two weeks into treatment, and the changes are minimal if any. The rash goes down at the tip and expands at the base, almost triangular in shape. There are small scales (or maybe cracks) in the skin, and the area is red, almost as if inflamed. I have no discharge from the penis. Any kind of friction (i.e. masturbation) makes the redness and burning much, much worse. I have been abstaining from that for now and only washing the area with warm water. I have thrown out all my heavily scented soaps.

I am in the process of attempting to get an appointment with another urologist in order to get a second opinion. Topical creams don't seem to be doing much, but I am going to keep putting Loprox on it for now. I feel like the Docs have been kind of brushing me off/don't want or don't know how to deal with balanitis. Nothing I am really doing is working, so I'm wondering if anyone else has any solutions.

The following links I will attach contain some photos of the condition I'm experiencing:

Reading all of these stories makes me feel a little better than i'm not the only one going through this. My glands are also red and patchy (no burning or itching at all). I hate it because while theres no pain, anytime i have sex or masturbate my entire head becomes red and inflamed and it just looks absolutely terrible. I went to a clinic and got tested and everything came back negative. Even during my physical exam the doctor pulled my skin back all the way and told me that everything "looks normal and thats how a penis is supposed to look". She told me i just have balanitis and told me to apply cream for 2 weeks and prescribed me a one dose antifungal for candida. 2 Weeks later and NOTHING HAS IMPROVED. This has been going on for months now and I dont even know what to do anymore and it's impacting my sex life, and i cant even masturbate for gods sake without irritating my entire penis. Does anyone have any other home remedies or any ideas?

I am back. I wrote a few months ago when I was thinking I was cured but unfortunately the symptoms came back.

This time I think I am cured after 1 and half year!

So after the red marks of the glans reappeared in their full glory accompanied with the feeling of irritation (and occasionally pain) I went (again) to a private clinic in South Europe , since there the visit costs 50 euros compare to the £200 in the UK.

I explained every detail to the doctor and after he saw me, did ultrasound test and prostate exam (all inclusive) told me that it might be untreated fungal infection. He laughed about the previous doctors who suggested water and salt 😄

He prescribed : Betadine surgical scrub soap and Daktodor .

Dear soldiers, it worked like a miracle! It was like watching Jesus walking on the water! I am telling you! Everything disappeared!

My final thoughts are that you cannot find the surgical scrub in the UK for some reason and they don't prescribe it! But it is the most effective thing I tried in one and half year and trust me I tried almost everything.

My advise go to to a South European country for holidays and book an appointment with a private clinic.

    Good luck to all!

Can you suggest the doctor name and his clinic address by DM if not here to me? Also, how long you are now symptoms free and how did and often you used betadin scrub soap and daktodor?

I will send DM with the info. I am almost 4 weeks symptoms free. Only once a small irritation reappeared since then, after having sex without condom. The same night I used the aforementioned soap and cream just once before I go to sleep and the next morning everything was back to normal.

The doctor recommended this treatment for three days (twice a day). I must say that in one day I saw more improvement than what I 've seen for one and half year. However the daktodor cream is recommended to be used for 1-2 weeks. If I see anything coming back I will apply the cream again but this time I will extend the treatment for a week at least.

I've had this for many years and been prescribed everything the latest being Trimovate which had some effect. I shower every day sometimes twice and always keep that area clean, I suspect it ended my marriage as well but no great loss and I did well when she bought me out the deeds.

Anyway, I found my own cure in asda on the baby isle, Sudocrem, I've seen a massive improvement no pain or itchiness it seems like its just the skin rubbing to me as I do work long hours and run around kitchens, I've seen an improvement to my mental health as well.
