imagehello, i haven't had any severe symptoms so i may have never thought much of this issue. Yet i've had this for many years. It hasn't worried me because it seems like a vein problem which i hear is normal. the lump itself is due to the veins but i do not know what causes it to be red.imageimageimage

Tony, the central area in photo 2 suggests to me you have irritated skin present on your penis.

For most genital skin issues there is a simple cause with soap and exposure to any other forms of body wash being a real problem in terms of a achieving healthy penile skin.

I would therefore suggest this is a starting point for anyone experiencing dry, broken or otherwise irritated penile skin:

Exclude all soap, shower gel and other forms of body wash such as hair shampoo from contacting the skin on the penis. Wash the penis with running warm, never hot water. After a shower, ensure the entire groin region is fully dried. For dry, broken or otherwise irritated penile skin you need to carefully dry the entire penis carefully, not only to prevent further damage but to ensure no moisture is present, as this itself can cause further irritation. ONLY use a clean dry towel that you yourself use.

Before you get in the shower draw your foreskin as far forward away from the body as it will go to protect the head and inner-foreskin of the penis - wash and fully rinse the rest of your body, then, expose the head and inner-foreskin and use the running warm water and the inside of your hand and your fingertips to clean around the upper part of your penis - and carefully fully dry.

After soap and forms of body wash, penile skin issues can be made worse by anything else that is applied to the penis, such as for sex or masturbation - the simple guide is that the less that contacts the skin of the upper-penis the healthier it is likely to be, So, if you use skin cream or lotion, baby oil or anything else for sex or masturbation you would be better off not using these until your penile skin is fully healthy again.

Which brings me to when healthier can be expected to be achieved: depending on how long irritants have been impacting on the skin, and the level of damage, or potential even actual skin condition - penile skin takes a great deal of time to achieve. So much so that preventative measures need to become second nature - so all the things I have mentioned already, and potentially anything else that is in contact with your penile skin (for some this can even be washing powder residue on clothing, for example) need to be excluded permanently from contacting your penis.

Change to a healthier penile skin can take an extended period of months, so do not be too disheartened if you still have some symptoms remaining after a year or even more - the thing you need to be wary of is whether there is an actual skin condition present - typically if you have skin issues anywhere else on your body you would need to get your penile skin checked by a doctor or Dermatologist

If there is anything else you need to check out with me ....... ?

Well that pretty much sums it up! I do believe that i haven't allowed the area to heal all this time. Thank you so much for your input! I appreciate the time you took. I'll put your advice to use!

Hey Wee, do you recommend i use hydrocortisone or an antifungal on the damaged area. These photos represent how it looks a tad more. Sorry to bother you again.

It is not possible for you to 'self-prescribe' the CORRECT hydrocortisone

The best advice I can offer is for you to refer to my initial response to you and put as much or all of what I suggest in place - change to a healthier skin can take a number of months to even show the initial signs of improvement.

From your initial post, there is absolutely NO information on what your current sexual practices are, how frequently you masturbate and what your personal hygiene practices are - so in terms of antifungal your current question does not compute ...

Have you actually seen any medical professionals about this?

If you have had this for many years I think the best specialist to see would be a Dermatologist that specialises in Genital Skin Disorders / Conditions .....

Ah okay so i will not attempt to use any. Well i haven't had much of a sex life for 2 years and Ive laid off the masterbation for months. Although throughout my life i have frequently masterbated daily without lube. My hygiene sucked as well. Now i try to wash and try after i urinate in case of any extra droplets. Did not see a medical professional because i figured it would go away. Silly me

i will refer your second post, its just been on my mind a bit more due to the lock down. Thanks again

... in terms of the droplets of urine, before you take a pee draw all the loose skin on the shaft of your penis towards the base of the shaft, nearest your body - that is the best way to prevent urine spray from touching the foreskin and shaft of your penis.

The other thing I regularly do if I am not going to wash after urinating or during sexual arousal is to use paper tissue to remove the residue - then wash as soon after as possible. This approach is best when you are away from the home and you cannot easily wash and correctly dry ....
