Penis Irritation redness itching

Posted , 3 users are following.

i have been dealing with penis pain, irritation, redness, itching since October 2018. My penis seems to take an hourglass shape often in the mornings and the skin is rough and discolored.

i have tried triamcinolone acetonide cream and i believe it made the skin thin and condintion worse.

i have visited my urologist and dermatologist 2-3 times. my urologist says nothing is abnormal but i have pain daily and it is easily bothered with sexual activity ( i am engaged and am trying to abstain until marriage)

the dermatologist prescribed elidel and also told me to use aquaphor for healing.

this seams to help some but i am not seeing much change.

i also have changed soaps/detergents and it hasn't helped.

does anyone else have experience with this type of condition? any other solutions?

Hi Oldg, were you prescribed the triamcinolone? I may boldly suggest that the things you have described here should be taken a whole lot more seriously than the Urologist has so far. Is it possible for you to see a different Urologist? It is critical that you get the pain and hourglass issue sorted out with a Urologist that is prepared to work with you to solve these issues.

Unfortunately, the dermatologist is 'merely prescribing you stuff' that are not resolving your skin issues for you, either. So what I can work with you on is the redness, itching and the skin being rough and discoloured:

First of all soap and any form of body cleanser should never be applied to the skin anywhere on your penis. When taking a shower wash everywhere else on the body first, try to prevent soap and other cleansers getting on to the tip area of your penis, throughly rinse all cleansers away then direct the water only at your penis and make sure any cleansers that got there are completely rinsed away. Use the water and the inside of your hand to gently rub the skin of your penis, dry this are first with a clean dry towel. Make sure the penis and groin region is completely dry.

You need to stop applying anything else to the skin of the penis, and this includes the elidel and aquaphor - if you use anything as a lube such as during masturbation or for your sexual activities it will help if you stop using these.

It would help if you used the water only approach for 4, 5 or as many months as you can before trying to help the irritated skin to recover further, as this is a CRITICAL period to allow your skin to set in place the process of recovery. If you switch from applying one set of things straight away and substitute them with something else, your skin may still not recover, or take a great deal of time to show any benefit.

However, after this initial recovery period what I would recommend is that you try either SHEA butter (Raw or Pure versions) or Coconut Oil (Pure / Natural versions, rather than for use on hair, etc) for periods of 3 or 4 months at a time. Apply one only for 3 or 4 months, then try the other, pick the one that seems to suit your skin better - you need to use one of then consistently thereafter, the best time is after a shower, and apply 3 or 4 times a week.

Please do not expect a change you will notice within a short space of time, the negative aspects of what you have now were probably put in place by washing with soap and suchlike throughout your life, you may not notice and real difference in appearance of the skin for 6, 8 or even more months, you need to be resilient and consistent with 'skin friendly' practices otherwise change for the better will not occur ......

i was prescribed triamcinolone by my urologist. i did use soaps/body wash basically my whole life until a couple years ago. i am 24 years old. i was skeptical to try what the dermatologist prescribed/recommended with aquaphor and elidel. i am going to try and not put anything on for months and only wash with water. thank you for the response, i was thinking about the same thing.

Thanks for the further information: it would be really good if there are any further developments on this - or certainly, if you update your forum post here in 2 or 3 months that would be really good as this is the only way to find out what works for some people ........

I have this exact same issue, my skin is so hypersensitive and I have hourglass shape exactly like yours. How are you coming along, any updates?
