penis problems

For few months I have had problems with my penis. It feels chubby and its thinner and smaller than it used to be. It is also somewhat numb as if you lay on your arm too much, mostly the penis head is numb. Most of the times I can achieve erections but they are not as they used to be and I lost morning erections. I dont wake during nights to go take a toilet and I think that I still go to toilet the same as I went before. Sometimes taking the toilet feels different since the penis can be numb and I need to push a little, but not like I have problems taking a toilet. I am 19 soon 20 can this bee Prostatitis? Sometimes I feel slight pain in my lower back and thighs pain + under scrotum/in scrotum. Or I am a bit tired. I have had pretty normal taste and did not lose weight. I want to visit doctor soon but I want to know what I am going into. I also had varicocele diagnosed before. Can problems with my penis/erections be caused by the Prostatitis?

    Dear mel,

    To summarise what you're describing:

    1. Erectile dysfunction
    2. Difficulty with peeing
    3. Numbness at tip of penis
    4. Low back pain and pain extending into upper thighs and scrotum

You should certainly see your doctor asap for a full medical and possibly a scan of the lower spine.

Genital numbness, sexual dysfunction and back pain are considered 'red flag' symptoms of spinal cord disease, not prostatitis.

I have already been to doctor many times because I havent been feeling well for the last year or so. They did many tests on me and took many blood samples for almost everything that I know and everything seems okay.......Only have increased hemoglobin values but nothing I should be worried about they said. Linked my back pain to scoliosis since I grew very fast in one year. My father had this too. Cant say that the back pain is getting worse. And I probably stated myself wrong. I am not having difficulty with peeing its just that the penis is sometimes number.

Should I still go and get myself tested more??

And one thing my penis feels somewhat light and the numbness, I can feel my penis when I touch it but its not as sensitive as it used to be.

Has your doctor performed a neurological examination (checked your sensation, power and reflexes)? If any part of this examination is abnormal he should order a scan.

Absence of early morning erections can often be a sign of an organic disorder (i.e. not anxiety), so he needs to check your thyroid and sex hormone and sugar levels.

I have not been to neurologist but yes, they checked my sugar levels and sex hormones I even have high testosterone over 40 or smth. Normal for my age is said to be 26. As you said spinal cord disease should I be worried? When I searched it up I found that tumors are pretty common and its been like this for some months for me.

      Hi mel,

Any competent doctor should be able to conduct a neurological examination! If you're worried enough to be seeking help from this forum, then I guess you're someone who isn't satisfied with the care you've received from your doctor.
