Penis Retraction

Hi there,
2 days ago I went to the doctor about my tight foreskin and how I was unable to retract it. He retracted it for me which gave me slight pain, but nothing major. He gave me cream which I should put over the glans while the foreskin was retracted, and he also said to slide the foreskin back over when I'm done. I pulled the foreskin back however I got an erection. I waited for it to go flaccid again but was unable to put the foreskin back over the head as it just slides down. The foreskin is also extremely tight when on the glans. I have two questions, firstly is it normal the my foreskin won't go back over the glans anymore, as it just slides down. And secondly, the glans is extremely sensitive when I touch it and since I can't pull the foreskin over it to protect it I'm in extreme discomfort, will this go away?
Thank you!

I completely forgot to add that after sleeping over it, it went back to normal however I repeated the process like an idiot and it won't go over it again. No luck with sleeping over it this time.

That's paraphimosis. If you can't fix it with cold water and manual pressure, you should seek urgent medical attention. I'll post another comment with some links shortly.

This occurs when a tight prepuce is retracted and then unable to be replaced as the glans swells. This is a urological emergency. Always check there is no encircling foreign body constricting venous return, such as a ring, rubber band or hair.
Gentle compression with a saline-soaked swab followed by reduction of the prepuce over the glans is usually successful.
Gradual manual reduction of the prepuce over the glans is done by placing both index fingers on the dorsal border of the penis and thumbs on the glans. The glans is pushed back while the index fingers pull the prepuce back over the glans.
This technique can be facilitated by trying to achieve reduction of swelling first. Ice may be applied. Manual compression is achieved by asking the patient to squeeze the glans for anything from 5 to 30 minutes. Osmotic reduction involves application of a swab soaked in 50% dextrose to the swollen area for an hour.
If simple methods fail then refer urgently to a urologist.
You need take the retraction a lot slower in future, and try not to have an erection while you're stretching.
The glans will be sensitive if it hasn't been exposed before, but you should eventually get used to it.
How old are you btw?

I am 16 years of age. I hopefully have some good news, the foreskin is back over the glans. What I did was put the cream as instructed, and forcefully pulled the foreskin up. It still sort of slid down but half way of the glans, so only half was covered by the foreskin. I then just continued with my day and approximatley 3 hours later it's back to it's original state. Should I be worried? The foreskin doesn't go back to normal ONLY if I have an erection when it's retracted, otherwise it goes back to it's original state. I'd really appreciate if I heard back from you, thanks.

I'm glad to hear that you've been able to get your foreskin back over the glans. Don't use force to retract your foreskin again though. You should probably wait two or three days before trying to stretch or retract again, and if you start to get an erection, then push the foreskin back over the glans asap and hold it there, as paraphimosis can be a real problem. This stretching thing isn't something you want to rush, and might take weeks or months.
If you're only 16 and you can fully retract then soft, then there's a good chance that gentle stretching and the (steroid?) cream will fix the problem and leave you with a fully retractible foreskin, when you're hard as well as soft.
The "glans" is the acorn shaped bit at the end btw, also known as the "helmet" or "bell end".

Thank you so much. I have came to a realisation that I certainly 'rushed' into it. Do you have any advice and tips on what to look out for when I no longer have to use the cream anymore? It still sort of hurts when I pull it back when flaccid since my glans is still extremely sensitive. I cannot actually retract it when erect. I read online that I should be retracting my foreskin and leaving it out for 15 minujtes or so just to let it get used to the air so it would be less sensitive and barable. I literally wasn't able to even touch it.

I don't know what your doctor told you, but I'd be aiming for easy retractability when soft and hard. It would be unusual for you to be able to cover much of the glans with your foreskin when you're hard, but you need to make sure that it won't get trapped behind the ridge at the base (the "corona"
.
I'm not sure if leaving it exposed makes much of a difference or not. If it's uncomfortable, then I wouldn't bother. This is something that will happen over time anyway, especially as you get older, and having a less sensitive glans isn't necessarily a good thing.

Alright, thank you so much. I'll continue applying the cream which I think will resolve my whole issue.

By 'down' I'm assuming you mean towards your body and not towards the floor when standing?
Surely the doc warned you of the danger of blood constriction? You should practice stretching with the cream so that eventually the foreskin returns to the forward position naturally when flaccid, otherwise there is a danger that you damage or even lose the tip of your penis! Blood constriction when foreskin stays retracted is a medical emergency!

As I replied to another user, the foreskin is now over the glans but I'm still afraid something may be wrong. What I did is applied the cream given to me by the doctor to the glans and forcefully brought the foreskin to cover the glans. What happened after that is it slid down half way of the glans, I continued with my day and approx. 3 hours later it's back to its original state. I'd like to add that the foreskin goes back to normal if I retract it when it's flaccid, only when I get an erection with foreskin already retracted does it stay like this.

Actually it's quite normal for the foreskin to stay back, with the glans exposed, for the time the penis is erect. Its just that it can be a problem if it doesn't cover the glans again when penis is soft. As to sensitivity, this gets less with age, so enjoy it while it lasts!

Thank you. So far the solution I came up with is to not force the foreskin back, instead following the doctors instructions by using the cream while flaccid and just putting the foreskin back to its place. I'd like to ask, is the foreskin supposed to retract itself when you get erect, or do you have to do it manually before hand?

By the way, some find that condoms decrease sensitivity, so when you have a partner it will probably help you last longer for your partner if you wear one - and of course this is always a good idea, at least with any new partner.

Ah alright. I figured the problem of all of this is it's pretty weird that I fixed my 'problem' in 1 day. I couldn't retract it for years and it was too good to be true to just visit and doctor and magically fix everything. My foreskin is still tight despite being able to pull it down, so I'll just apply the cream every day and hope it gets less tight as time goes on. I just find it difficult to figure out when to stop using the cream and when I know everything will be fine, any advice? I hope it's good news it can fix itself with a little help, as it has returned to covering the glans in the past overnight.

As Pepasan said, all men are different down there (probably more so than for any other part of the body). Mine retracts itself when I go hard, and if yours is so tight, then yours probably will eventually too. You can also do it manually, but just don't force it.
(Apologies for explaining the term "glans" earlier btw. You clearly knew what it was when you first posted.)

Actually I don't have direct experience of how long to use the cream, (and I don't know other guys who have), but as mine has occasionally been tighter at some times than others, and my skin generally has become drier as I've got older (I'm 67) and so I've used various moisturising products to keep my foreskin pliable, I'd just suggest keep using what the doctor prescribed as long as it lasts, and ask for more if you find you need it. You may also benefit from using a lube like KY jelly or as offered by Durex - who also make condoms, for intercourse and masturbation. (Although condoms usually have lube on them so when using them the lube may be less needed).
