Penis ulcer, negative for syphilis

Ok, I was putting my lotion on yesterday and I felt something on my penis. On the underside, in the wrinkly part.

It looks like an ulcer. I would not have known it was there unless I felt it with my finger. No pain, no itching, no burning.

I panicked of course. So I went to the clinic. She did a number of tests.

Negative for HIV, Chlamydia, Gonorrhea. She said it doesn’t look like herpes in any way. She did a RPR test for Syphilis. Which came back negative. But she did say, sometimes testing too early can show a negative. So she sent it out for a TPPA test, which can find it in the earliest stages. I’ll have those results tomorrow.

She recommended I go to a dermatologist, in which I did. They were not sure, prescribed me Denoside cream, and to follow up next week.

I am type 1 diabetic. A month ago I had a yeast infection, in the urethra. Kind of happens when blood sugars are high. I was given Fluconazole to treat this.

Not sure if maybe some “infected urine” may have sat there after peeing and caused something.

Anyone have any input? I see similar images online...it’s hard to say.

    Hi steven,

Sounds like you saw a very savvy doctor. Stick with her! As a diabetic you are more vulnerable to bacterial and other infections, so if the TPPA test for syphilis is negative and all the other STI tests are clear, it could simply be a skin infection that's taking a little longer to heal because of your underlying condition.
