Hi

I have had rheumatoid arthritis  since 09 and fibromyalgia since May this yr and I work full time.  Back in the summer I didn't even know about PIP but a colleague told me about it because his wife's suffer from fibro and another condition,  so I telephoned for the information etc, filled it in Sept and hada home assessment in the beginning of November, did think I would get anywhere with it due to me working, buttoday I got the letter to say that I had  been awarded the daily living component but not yhe Mobility component,  I got 9 points on the daily one and only 4 on mobility,  to say I am over the moon is an understatement and the payments are going to be back dated when they got the paperwork.  Reading the paperwork with it they list other benefits I may be able to get and looking at it Imy daughter who now lives with me to help me out on a day to day basis should be able to get the carer's allowance and im going to reapply for a Blue badge,  also going to look into the home energy efficiency scheme.

So if any one thinks they won't get any help please please try cos you got something to lose  :-)

      Hi Ingrid

We all suffer differently with our conditions,  day living for me has got so hard, my daughter and grandson now living with me,  I can't prepare any meals without help, can't even lift a saucepan of water etc, she makes a packed lunch for work for me to take or something I can put in the microwave,  I am unable to take a bath but can shower due to handrails,  I can only wash my hair when someone around so that they can shampoo and and dry it for me, getting dressed is a nightmare and I now buy clothes and shoes that are easy to take on and off, as for bras if she not around in the evening I leave it on to go to bed which I hate. Cant do any household chores without help and I pay a friend to do the ironing.  I very lucky most of my family live very close sp that if im on a flare up they come and help me out of bed etc, has going to the toilet I wipe myself with moist wipes from the front not behind. If family can't do my shopping its done on line when someone around to put it away. Basically I go to work come home have food and then go to bed, but on sick leave at present due to a flare up x hope this helps and try again x

      Hi Dee

I work for the local council and my boss is very good,  ive had a chair and office equipment to help on the day to day running of the office etc, our HR and OH are again very good,  if im unable to attend meetings my boss if she can goes for me,  im hoping to stay in work at long as as I can cos ive still got a mortgage.  On sick leave again at the moment of a flare up hopefully be back in work soon got doctors on the 7 jan new meds seem to be working but the side effects are horrible nauseous and sick. Look into it cos you never know,  like I said I hadn't even heard of it in the summer x good luck

I were diagnosed 4 years ago, and have applied and got refused twice. Yet there is someone I know who was diagnosed in the summer and is no where near as bad as I am, and she has got the full mobility and blue badge. Something wrong here don't you think?

      Hi Jackie..

I were just reading through the posts, and were wondering if you were lucky enough to get your claim for PIP? and if so, any tips? Have a good day if you can, Regards Anne

How have you been able to claim PIPs, I have been turned down, I am unable to work I rarely have a day without pain from fibromyalgia. I have been signed off work for 15 months been made redundant and there is no way I could take on a full or part time work. I am 58.
