Pep talk at 8 weeks

Posted , 7 users are following.

on Wednesday I met my mate who had the op in January. He assures me it was just a matter of confidence to take the next steps forward and move on from patient mode. So today is 8 weeks post op, last night we were dancing until 3.am, yes dancing! I took the car out, rearranged the furniture to its usual position and demoted my ortho chair to the spare room. Off to see the consultant on Wednesday and if he says yes I will go to the golf club next weekend. Happy New Year all. Tony

Well my first few steps were around the kitchen table, I increased my activity gradually, it is amazing how quickly the time has gone. Just listen to your body, the first two weeks are spent sleeping  in the chair! I think at first you are frightened that the hip will 'pop out' and you have to regain confidence. This forum has been very useful because somebody has had the same problem as you before, you are not the first. Good luck, Tony

Thanks Tony. Glad your mate is doing well. I hope my implant is still okay. May just need to start doing specific exercise to help the stiffness and pain I have been having recently. Happy New Year

Sounds like the two of you are doing really well - and dancing too !!!

I'll have to wait a while yet to demote my chair raisers as i have to have revision in January on my 9 week old new hip sad.

Thanks for the encouragement, hope you can get golfing soon.

    Happy Hippy New Year  🎈🍸 ❤ 💋 🎉

The surgeon thinks it will be much quicker - about 30 minutes

Maybe the recovery will be quicker, or easier?

Glad u r doing well. R u planning to play a round or just to visit 19. If you do play let us know how u get on. I wasn't planning to play again until March

I'm 10wpo but not doing so well as u as I still have a lot of stiffness and a bit of pain at top of thigh and I don't think my swing will do it any good.

It will depend on the consultant, I may have to wait for three months post op. I had a bigger ceramic ball joint which should enable me to play golf again but I think it takes a little longer to be secure in the joint. I'll post after my appointment. Tony

I am 6 weeks post op too and felt better a week ago. I don't understand why I have hip pain when it's a new joint. So stiff its crazy. Trying to do over the counter pain relief but it seems its not enough. Are you on a cane? I stopped using one indoors about 5 days ago and think thats my problem. Had such bad neck pain on that side..good Luck!
