Peri acetabular osteotomy

my daughter is due to have surgery at the royal orthopaedic hospital in Stanmore at the end of April. It would be good for her to have a PAO buddy. So if you, or you know anyone who is about to have this surgery in the London area please let me know.

Hi Sarah, I had a PAO just two weeks ago today. I had my operation in London but I'm actually from Cornwall. I'd be happy to give any advice smile

Thanks for replying. How are you now? And is your pain under control?  How long were you in hospital? Are you staying in London to convalesce or have you gone back to Cornwall? My daughter is 26. She is well prepared and will be staying with me for a few weeks. Where did you have your surgery?

Hi Sarah, I had my surgery at Guys hospital in London on the Monday morning then was discharged on the Thursday morning. I have managed to control my pain now, and I'm only taking painkillers when I need to but at the beginning I did take them every two hours. I have found sleeping the worst, getting comfortable has been a problem and I did wake up when I needed painkillers. I'm only 24. Having her stay with you is best, there is a bit I still need help with but I am up and about on my crutches now smile

Hi Sarah, how did your daughter get on with her operation? Is she recovering well?

Hi. Yes she is getting on slowly. Now 4 weeks post op. Pain ok. Didn't get on too well with crutches at first due to tendonitis in the wrists. But this is easier now. She is diligently doing the exercises she was given. Sleeping a lot better. Due to see physio next week and hoping to do hydrotherapy. Not seeing consultant til 15th June. How are you doing? Are you weight bearing now?
