Peri Menopause

I'm 42 years old and recently started having hot flashes..
I'm also experiencing dizziness or vertigo as I'm having them. It's such a horrible feeling. Does anyone else have the same or similar symptons.
I've read that the hormones affect the inner ear which can cause vertigo. I feel wobbly and almost like I'm going to fall over during an attack.
Anyone else's experienceso or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

Hello Dora, yes I am 47 and have terrible vertigo, dizziness and then feeling sick since I've been suffering with peri-menopause. I have ear ache quite a lot as well. The doctor checked my ears but couldn't see any sign of infection. Also having missed heart beats and then a sudden big heart beat which feels scary. Ended up having 2 ecgs last week, doctors say it's benign, but doesn't help my anxiety. Sometimes the anxiety literally grips me out of the blue like a vice. It's so horrible, I don't know what to ask for at doctors, hrt, bio-identical progesterone, mini pill? But I just can't take these symptoms any longer. It is hideous.

Sorry to hear you're experiencing horrible symptons. It's horrible.
I too have heart flutters and the feeling of missed heartbeats and I've also had ECG'S..due to have a 24 hour monitor but I know it's definitely related to the peri menopause.
It scares me and definitely raises anxiety levels.
I've always been very independent, fit and healthy but have found it quite debilitating recently.
Am also considering talking to my doctor about hrt patches as have been told they're really good. Would prefer to take a supplement of some kind if it worked.
Have you tried anything?

Hi Dora, no I haven't tried anything yet, I really don't want anti-depressants or anxiety pills. I have read as much as possible, and think I have oestrogen dominance from not producing enough progesterone. People recommend asking for bio-identical hormones as they don't give side effects, but also not sure how much they have been tested. Doctor has recommended Mireya coil as I am having periods every 3 weeks which are heavy and I get so teary a few days afterwards. I don't mind the physical symptoms so much but can't stand the anxiety, feelings of doom, lack of confidence, feeling overwhelmed. My heart beats so weirdly, apparently an extra heart beat. I have read about progesterone cream, will ask doctor in 2 days when I have appointment. Just so much information on internet, but really think they should make a public information film for women. They do it for teenagers. I can't believe all these millions of women not being given the information and going backwards and forwards to doctors and a&e. We should be better informed. It's an absolute disgrace that we aren't given the full information so we can make choices. Must be costing the NHS a fortune in A&E visits too.

I totally agree with you Susan.
Not enough information or help available
Most doctors are completely useless and ignorant to this topic.
I also have an ectopic heartbeats. Found this out few years ago. Had lots of tests and was assured that it was safe and very common.
I've noticed it's heightened recently with onset of peri menopause.
I'm hoping to get some advice from a female doctor this week.

Hi Dora. I'm 49 nearly 50 and in peri for about 2 years now horrific symptoms my worst been just like you vertigo and dizziness which is debilitating when I feel like this which is most days it send my anxiety levels high like I'm waiting for it to happen. Ican't walk on escalators or stand been around crowds of people I've gone from been such an outgoing fun loving person to a someone who doesn't want to go anywhere or do anything. I've tried all sorts over the 2 years natural menopace evening primrose and vertigo tablets. Not really with much effect. I'm now on hrt elleste duet prescribed by my doctor as I just want a quality of life.im hoping these will help been on them 3 weeks now and I'm going to persivere with them. Never thought it would be like this I still have periods so god knows what will happen when they stop. You think you are the only one but when your in here you realise your not alone. Doctors arnt much help really they don't seem to understand how hard it is and want to give you anti depressants etc. I didn't want to go down hrt route but I want my life back I will keep you informed on how it goes. Much love xx
