Hi, I have just been givemn a packet of Femeston 1/10 by my GP. I have been going backwards and forwards for quite a few yrs with weight gain, sweats, mood swings etc. We have done all the tests and I'm borderline under active thyroid although still normal. She wants me to try hrt and says I will feel great. I never was on the pill after my children who are 19 and 17.(I'm 46) I don't know what to do. Just had no period for 7 weeks and today I am having what seems to be the mother of all periods so I'm looking at this packet thinking 'Shall I give it a go?' has anyone any views on taking this?
Thanks, Sarah

Its a difficult decision to decide when you are feeling awful with various things changing. My GP suggested HRT to me last July (13) and it took me to Mar this year to finally realise that I wasn't feeling great without it so I took the plunge and even though it has been trial and error with different ones and the one you mention was the last one I tried and to be honest only changed to the patches as I thought they would be kinder to use and nothing having to remember to take a tablet every day. (personal choice though) Femoston 1/10 were the better of the tablets and how I read that the progrestone part was more simular to what our own bodies make.
What with the help of taking the vitamins and now using the patches and the help of accupunture I am slowly getting there, (as I say it has been trial and error). Still get the odd time that my health anxiety creeps in but no way near as last year.
If you dont give it a try you will never know and you can always give it six months to see how you get on. The one thing that is taking HRT when your in your 40's or very early 50's they say will be fewer risks then if you take it later in life.
Good luck with your decision and on a more positive note at least you will know when to expect your bleed and it should be lighter aswell.
Big hugs,
Joy

I went through that very same stuff at about your age. I'm 54 now. Don't worry, it should end within a couple years and finally you will no longer have a cycle. It's rough, I remember. Make sure you're taking all your vitamins and eating correctly.

Mary
