Perianal Abscess- treatment without surgery

Hi,

Has anyone been able to treat a perianal abscess without having surgery/drainage?

I'm currently on antibiotics - week 2 now. It is shrinking. Less pus, but have some light bleeding. it's painful to sit / lay down. have fever.

Is it possible for it to heal without surgery/drainage? if antibiotics worked, how long did it take please? I just don't want surgery.

Also did anyone else have fever almost every day (not whole day, but on and off) when they had a perinal abscess?

Thanks

surgery is inevitable with an abscess of any location unfortunately. ...especially is there is fever involved. fever means infection. the longer you prolong it the more it can spread and cause more damage. you can try sitting in a warm sitz bath or Epson salt bath to draw out the infection, but again, that's just a "bandaid". good luck.
