Perimeno Health Anxiety Struggles!!!
Posted , 4 users are following.
Hello beautiful ladies. My journey with perimeno has been going on for about 5 years now. At first i thought hey what's going on usually around period time. Then the health anxiety reared its ugly head along with a lot of gastro issues. Now 5 years in the anxiety is my worst symptom. I always think the worst. I'm always thinking somethings wrong. I'm tired even though i sleep. My stomach is a mess. I'm anxious and on edge just about every day. I don't feel like my happy self which is upsetting me. I'm worried about getting older. I still have a small child left at home he's 8 and my world. I will be 45 in November. My cycle has changed from 28 days faithfully to 33 to 36 days. Just wondering how many of you ladies are suffering with health anxiety is it ruining your life? And what are some things you have done to help it.

Hi renee,
I get health anxiety and my gosh it's awful isn't it! I think for me just accepting that I have it is an important factor. I can then rationalise with myself that I am overthinking things, sometimes this helps other times it doesn't. I think we can sometimes have a tenancy to go looking for answers and then worry ourselves silly thinking the worse can scenario and start the vicious cycle off and go into panic mode. I am trying to stop doing this very thing! Coming on a forum is often good because it allows us to see that our symptoms, whilst awful, aren't uncommon. Sometimes it is worth pushing for tests as not everything is down to hormones and a negative or normal result can eliminate other concerns and give peace of mind. Distraction is good too, when I feel myself slipping into the health anxiety doom I will do something I enjoy. I also have an 8 year old who is my world 😁 and he has certainly got me through some of my worst times without even knowing it! I like to listen to something called Asmr as I find it relaxing. A lot of people find it helps with sleep and anxiety. This isn't for everyone though and some people find it bizarre 😂 Taking control is also helpful, this could be something simple like concentrating on eating/drinking well and makes me feel like I am doing something positive for my body. Focusing on something positive stops us dwelling on the negatives is my theory here. I'm also looking into some vitamins that may be of help. I have no miracle cure for this but please know you aren't alone and us ladies are always here to chat too.

Definitely find something that helps you relax, I've recently gone swimming more, when normally I'm not a fan. Strangely the off balance feeling I get is much less noticeable when I'm in the pool so gives me a small break from it. I can understand not wanting to take antidepressants as they come with side effects and can be hard to come off, having said that they certainly have there place and can be a life saver for some people. I hope you are having some treatment for the anaemia. We have a lot of similarities in our symptoms so I truly understand how consuming it can be! I've got through some awful days, some days have even been scary I must admit, but I will never give up and for that I give myself credit and realise just how strong I can be. I've dealt with pre menstrual syndrome for the last 8 years so am definitely ready for a break from hormone hell! Be kind to yourself and just message if you ever need to chat,

Hey FinkyB . Im glad swimming has helped. I am going to start meditating and also found some useful grounding techniques on youtube. I have also been getting alot of brain fog and feeling spacey have you ever had this. Its quite scary. Almost feels like no concentration i know what im doing but its slower. I so wish this would end.

Hi Renee,
Glad you have found some good techniques, let us know how you find the meditation. I haven't felt spacey but did go through a phase where I was forgetting what things were called and losing track of what I was saying mid sentence. For me this was linked to low vitamin B12 and folate and improved once I was started on supplements. Brain fog seems quite common in peri/menopause, gosh it's awful isn't it.

Hi Renee,
Yes, health anxiety is absolutely ruining my life right now.
Like you, I have recurring gut issues... used to be just at period time, then at period and ovulation, and now it's like every few days. I get over one 'stomach bug', am ok for a day or two, then here it comes again. I have no clue if it's just because what foods I can tolerate is changing, or if my hormones are really surging and crashing that often, or if something is direly wrong and my Dr's aren't taking me seriously, but for sure it is a real struggle trying to focus at work when my gut is either bloated beyond pain, or I have to run to the bathroom half a dozen times in a day.
Also like you, my daughter is my world. I keep going for her, but it's survival mode, not thrive mode, and that makes me so sad.
I wish I could give you some advice on how to get out from under it, but it's crushing me right now, so I stand with you in solidarity.
Blessings to you,
Sara
Oh, PS... 51 yo, having 6 or 7 periods a year, with awful symptoms to go with, but just spotting for a few days mostly.
