Perimenopause

Hi, I'm 47 years old and haven't been diagnosed with perimenopause. For the last few months I've been suffering with breathlessness that comes and goes even at rest. I've had COVID-19 in January but have since had xray, ecg bloods etc that came back normal. Now I've also got heartburn and indegestion for about the past month. My GP has given me omeprazole to try but this hasn't really helped. Could these all be signs of being perimenopausal? i still have my period every month but am on the contraceptive patch. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

hello dawn, welcome to the roller coaster ride. would you describe the breathlessness as air hunger? when you can't seem to fill your lungs? if yes, then thats one of the symptoms of periM. its the worst symptom if you ask me.

it will ease, don't worry. it might take time. I still get them every day but its not as serious as before. try to meditate. listen in to body scans on u tube. they helped me.

I also took help from my gyno. she prescribed a herbal med called Estro G 100. its not an estrogen supplement. its worked wonders for me. so speak to your GP for advice.

most of all know that this will ease...the time it will take depends on woman to woman. I've been a sufferer from March last year and lockdown did not help. don't worry about having serious diseases etc. periM plays on the mind sometimes and you end up thinking the worst. it only makes things worse.

    stay strong. you'll be fine.

Hi, thanks so much for your reply, you've made me feel a little better. It does feel like air hunger and like you say it can be scary. I will definitely be trying out the yoga that you recommended. Take care.
