Perimenopause and digestive disorders

Hi clever ladies

Am I the only one?

My main issues with perimenopause are anxiety and upset stomach/changed bowel movements.

I suddently had to run to the toilet 2-3 times in the morning with very loose bm, and often again after eating.

Since I started taking “psyllium husk” it has improved a lot. Still very soft but only 1-2 a day. A lot more gassy though...

Do you know of this symptom?

I was having this issue too! I was so worried that I requested a colonoscopy. My results came back perfectly normal. My doctor advised me to start taking fiber and that has worked to solve my soft stools.

Oh yes! 5 years now with this annoying symptom. Not as bad as it used to be...I am taking psyllium husk as well along with gelatin (bone broth) at times. There were two years in there that just getting in a vehicle was too much on my bowels. Good thing there is a rest stop between my house and town...I have often had to use it...lol. Now I still often get issues but mostly if I am nervoys about something or really eat the wrong things.

Hi Troldepus - Yes I have this and it just started in June when my hormones started to crash. I had such loose stools for 2 months straight and now they are not as often. I did start the over the counter progesterone cream; not sure if that is why it has returned to more "normal" for me. I also get these loose stools during a Hot Flash -sometimes I have a flash without the sweating but will have to run to the bathroom and sometimes have "emotions" with it - sometimes tearful, sometimes irritated...the flash lasts about 1 - 5 minutes - it is so weird. It was very concerning at first, but it is Symptom #44 on the list of 66.

    Hello,

my digestive issues due to low estrogen are horrible.

Gasses, soft stools while other time constipation, bloating, excessive saliva, burping …

I have officially diagnosed with mild bile reflux and when my stools are very loose I am taking some riopan gel to protect my stomach and my colon. It makes my stools harder, a nice change.

Similarly, the mornings I am running to the toilet as you said.
