Perimenopause and lumpy sharp breast pain

Hi Ladies

Past few days I have been having breast pains, it's sharp burning pains. The left breast is worse. I had a period 3wks ago. Before my last period this January I didn't get a period for 5months. I also have upper shoulder and arm pains. Headaches too. I've had this breast pains since 2017, it comes and goes like every 6months.

I'm very worried as Im so scared it's something serious. I've visited my GP many times about this problem but he says he can't see anything serious. I'm 53.

Any advice would help.

    ME TOO!!!!!!

So scary, even though normal mammograms. I am 3 years post, and still have this on and off. My doctor told me, right along with the look that says they think I am crazy, that breast cancer pain doesn't come and go, and generally does not exhibit with any pain. So who knows.

    Hang in there!

      Hi Debra

      Thanks for the reply.

Did you notice any lumps in your breast? Or was it just pain?

I thought I felt it one time but mistaken it from the sterophic procedure I had last year due to microcalifications. But also a lot of pains and aches. I hope you feel better soon dear.

Thank you so much for posting this. I have been going through this for over a week now. My period ended on Tuesday. It was the first one that I had in three months which was the longest I had gone without a period so far. But I had the sharp pains in my breast, shoulder, stomach, and back all this plus bloating, gas and gastritis. I want my periods to end but just without all these other symptoms. It's just too much!

I am 51 and 2.5 years post menopause and I have been having this very issue. I avoid caffeine and I take evening primrose. My mammograms have all been normal. I even saw a breast surgeon last year because of reoccurring breast pain. In right breast then it switched to my left. She said that I don't have cancer and to take vitaman e. I told her about the evening primrose and she gave it a thumbs up. I have been to the ER in the past and even had a CT scan to check for blood clots.

I had a 3D mammogram last year because of breast pain.

My left breast pain was so bad in the wee hours of yesterday morning I almost went to the ER.

I was miserable. I know estrogen can be a culprit for breast pain.

I am so over this. If it isn't one thing it's another or multiple things at once. But breast pain especially left side is scary. I was also told that breast pain is not a normal symptom of breast cancer.

My mammogram is due the middle of this month. I got my "hey time to come in to get your breasts squashed" notice. Fun stuff. I hate to say it but I miss having regular periods. I miss being 30 and not having pain and worry. I can't remember what it felt like to be pain free.

    You are not alone. xx

Thanks for the reply. Did you have any painful lumps in your breasts? I can feel one in my left breast. It's really a worry as I check my breast every month and didn't notice this. I've been having breast pain since 2016 since starting perimenopause, I keep a journal of all my symptoms. But past few days I felt a lump too. I'm going to see my doctor tomorrow for an ultrasound. As two months ago I felt this pain, he checked my breast and said it was nothing to worry about.

I had a period last month. I not sure about this month as nowadays I skip periods. Its like every three months or so... Lol..

No, I haven't felt any lumps, but my breast is really sore and the breast muscle is swollen compared to my right. I have always had very tender breast and I dread getting my breast checked. My breast felt better last night but is back to being painful again and unfortunately it triggers other pain receptors in my body, so it just gets worst from there.

I have fatty breast I was told at my 3D mammogram which makes it easier to see things. I still worry, because I have reoccurring pain. Though last year it was mainly my right and everyone on here seemed to be experiencing the left. Heart attack sits at the middle of my mind because they say women signs can be hard to tell.

There have been other posts on here that have mentioned painful lumpy breast in the past. I wish there was a way to search this menopause forum for specific symptoms.

I am truly sorry you are going through this. I know how scary this is for you. I hope and pray your ultrasound is clear.

Thanks for the encouraging words. Ive had this breast pains on and off since 2016. I think my hormones is really messing me up this weekend, my BP has shot up, had to go to my local clinic for advice. I'm on BP meds but it's usually well controlled. My period should be due in 9days time. I'm sure it's to do with this menopause. As I get all these symptom one after the other.

I hope you are well today, I'm sorry to hear your also facing the same issue. My prayers are with you too.
