Perimenopause: Anyone take Lamictal?

Posted , 4 users are following.

Hi I've been considering taking Lamictal for my PTSD which has worsened in peri. But now heard Lamictal can lower your estrogen which could make other things worse. I'm not really having hot flashes yet. I think if anything my estrogen is high and progesterone is very very low. Has anyone in peri taken Lamictal?

Thanks!!

Hi what do you mean by feeling low on estrogen? Like you are having hot flashes? So it did impact your hormones in a negative way? What were you taking it for? I'm prob estrogen dominant as well but I don't want it to be so low that I have early menopause symptoms like hot flashes, more weight gain, hair loss etc. I'm just considering the drug out of desperation because of dissociative amnesia getting worse with peri and low progesterone. And I can't take extra progesterone because of the weight gain and fibroid.

yes hot flashes (night sweats), and dryness down there. hormonally, i feel like i am on track at 4 years in. periods spacing out more. i take lamictal as a mood stabilizer along with two other antidepressants. since i was taking it before peri i dont know if it has made any difference.

Thanks. So you're not really sure if the Lamictal pushed you closer to menopause or gave you menopause symptoms. Like you might be having the same low estrogen symptoms even if you didn't take lamicital?
