Perimenopause or Anxiety or ???

Hi everyone,
I recently joined this, my first ever forum, in the hope of gaining knowledge and sharing experiences on the strange symptoms I have been experiencing the last few weeks.
My first post focused on Anxiety and the possibility of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. It has recently been brought to my attention, there is a possibility my symptoms could be hormone related. Something I never actually considered.
Brief list of symptoms...
Fatigue (groggy and heavy type tiredness)
Brain Fog
Feeling detached and 'spaced out'
Weak and Shaky
Jelly Legs
Weak Fingers and Toes
Sensitive to light and sound
Sometimes feels like I have flu or a bad virus (even though I know I don't)
Light Headed
Light Dizziness
Easily tired out
Occasional Palpitations
Frequent urination (occasionally)
Anxious (more so than usual)
Brief History...
I have had anxiety issues, on and off, for many years and also hormone induced migraines. This year the migraines are definitely worse and so too is the anxiety. I had an 8 day brutal migraine early/mid September, followed by 8 days of severe brain fog/dull fuzzy head. I haven't been the same since. I'm also wondering if my symptoms are migraine related? I've had 2 full blood tests done and 2 urine samples taken. All came back normal/clear and healthy. I've also been to see an ENT consultant who ruled out an inner ear virus. He also checked my throat and balance. I had a full eye examination last week and my eyes are in great shape. I have an MRI booked next week and also an appointment to get an ECG recorder fitted for 48 hours.
My symptoms are so broad and general, it could be a number of things... I have even considered CFS. Now I'm thinking it could be hormone related? I feel more anxious not knowing what this is!
Is anybody experiencing anything similar?
Any replies/advice would be greatly appreciated x

Dizzy spells seem to be common amoung most of us. Mine are becoming more and more frequent. It is such an unsettling feeling. I sometimes feel a sense of pressure in my head, and behind my eyes. Does anyone else experience this? Sometimes I develope a headache as well. The feeling I get behind my eyes is really strange. Almost like they're being pushed on or, twisted (if that makes any sense). Does anyone else experience this with the dizzy spells.
I am starting to feel really worn down by all of this. Trying so hard not to be depressed.
Hugs to you all!!!

I also get pressure behind the ear. I don't really get dizzy spells that much but I do feel unsteady on my feet sometimes like I am imbalanced. I am nervous sometimes about going outside because I feel like while I am walking my legs feel real heavy which attributes to feeling unsteady. I feel like I'm dragging them. This usually happens around my cycle though. It is not a pleasant thing at all!

i am so so glad I found this website and discussion.
i have been experiencing so many of the symptoms you have all mentioned and not been diagnosed with anything. Everybody just thinks I am nutty and I don't think people believe me anymore.
i experience palpitations, headaches, dizzy turns, heavy bottom legs, very heavy periods at the beginning which were never like that, I'm constantly tired, very forgetful and at times do not even feel that I'm on the same planet as everyone else.
ive had bloods done, I've had a heart monitor on for 48 hours to rule out any heart problems, I've had chest X-ray too and nothing has come up. Was honestly starting to think that it was all in my head but underneath I think I know it isn't.
my mum had an early menopause at about 37 and I am 35 now and I have felt like this for a long time now. Sometimes I feel better and that it will come back and bite me big time.
im so sorry that there are so many women going through this but at the same time I am glad everybody can support each other as some days I feel like I have been hit with a sledge hammer and feel like I have some serious life threatening debilitating illness but I am pretty sure after reading all of your replies that it is the peri menopause. And if it is I am glad because I have at times thought I was dying, such a horrible feeling.
anyway, sorry to run on so much but really just wanted to say thank you to lots of you for what you have written and how much this has helped me understand, so thank you.
Kay

that a good price,
its £6.85 for 100 B6 100mg on Biovea..
they do 500mg time release one too, but thats too strong... and alot more expensive...
If your not sure ask your Doc, but when i was first in peri and lived in UK ( i live in southern spain now) my Doc gave me B6 for peri, he prescribed it for me, but back then he didnt explain the benefits so i never went back for more, if only i had realised what i know now ... Jayxx

useful snippet iff web for you..
Menopause Mood Swings & Vitamin B6
Vitamin B6 may alleviate menopausal mood swings.
During menopause, mood swings are inevitable with estrogen fluctuations as the body ends its reproductive years.
Vitamin B6 may be one answer to alleviating increased agitation, depression and anger. B vitamins are responsible for mood stabilization by controlling hormone production in the brain and regulating hormone levels. B6 declines as menopause sets in and mood swings become evident. Increasing this vitamin may give women the added boost they need to enjoy the golden years with a better mindset.
For women who suffer with brain fog, and memory issues in perimenopause, low levels of B6 could be part of the problem.
Depression, confusion, and an inability to concentrate are all associated with B6 deficiency. Vertigo, dizziness, and heart palpitations are also common complaints from women going through perimenopause.
All of these symptoms have been associated with (among other things) a B12 deficiency.
Vitamin B6 can also help with stubborn weight gain in perimenopause. It is key in the breakdown and utilization of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins in our diet, and is necessary for a healthy metabolism - both which can help manage weight.
supplements of 100mg to 300mg per day ... depending on severity

I have just joined this forum never did it before but desperate to talk to others with the same symnptoms! I am going through the monopause tried HRT had a really bad reaction was told I was at risk of having a stroke so had to come off it.( but it is the answer for some people). Up to this week, only on black cohosh for the night sweats, really bad fog brain, not coping with work I manage a recruitment team ( very driven enviroment). Fog brain leads to being anxous to the point of sometimes not wanting to leave the house and face the day at work. My GP now prescribed Sertraline today to help with the anxious feeling ( its also an anti depresent) he never suggested Vit B6 which I would have preferred. Oh has anyone tried or heard of FX Menopause 3 I have ordered it online just desperate I guess and the feedback was good. Sorry first entry and I have waffled on - has anyone issues with work and have you contacted your Occupaton Health Dept just curious, I might but also anxous about becoming an issue!!! Keep the faith ladies next time I am coming back as a man........... x Catme

be careful wirh black cohosh if taking antidepressants some interact with black cohosh.. Just so you are aware if not already, cant help with the FX menopause 3 not heard of it.. Sorry.. b6 a good one for brain fog anxiety etc.. Good luck catme Jay xx
Black Cohosh Drug Interactions
Before taking black cohosh, you should talk to your healthcare provider about any other medications you are taking. Some medications (such as certain antidepressants, risperidone, and codeine) may cause negative interactions with black cohosh. Drug interactions with black cohosh can affect the way your body handles certain medicines, possibly increasing your risk of side effects or decreasing the effectiveness of the medications.
