Perimenopause or cervical cancer?

Posted , 5 users are following.

I am 48yrs old, I have been in perimenopause for 2 years now. I have the night sweats, depression, moodiness, blurred vision, lack of libido. I have had irregular periods with very heavy flow, large clots up until the past 3 months, my periods are not heavy anymore, no longer clot at all but the bleeding is constant, even if I'm not having period bleeding, I have light pink discharge, for the past 3 months I have only had maybe one week out of the month that I don't bleed. My back has been hurting me this past month and occasionally my discharge smells foul(sorry TMI ). If been reading and some of my symptoms point towards cervical cancer warning and also hormone imbalance.. I am waiting for my insurance to become active so I can go to the Dr. Has anyone else had the same symptoms? I'm loosing my mind over this constant annoying bleeding. I swear I need to invest stock in kotex!

So I bet you are freaked out. But don’t be. Many women have had these symptoms.

Yes seeing your doctor would be a good idea. Remember that your first hormone base to change is progesterone, which explains many of your symptoms. I used vaginal progesterone for 14 days to keep my periods regular while I was in Perimenopausal. It worked and I loved it.

I did a 25 - 50 mg coumpounded suppository. And at one point used Crinone ( an RX FDA product).

I know this constant dribbling is hard. But it will pass.

Is the vaginal progesterone prescription only?

      Yes it is.

You could get OTC progesterone cream. Look for a well recommended product. (There are several). Some you can get on Amazon.

Start low and go slow, just 14 days at the end of your cycle. It’s sure worth a try. You’ll know if it feels right.

I have no idea when the end of my cycle really is. This us just a constant spotty pink discharge that will suddenly turn more red at some point on a daily basis and then back to pink again. My body seems to just have's mind of its own.

Yes I know what you are describing. You should have some idea when your normal cycle was. (Approximately) Use past calendars from 3 months ago if you need to.

You could have your FSH, estradiol and progesterone levels tested. But in peri, they can be all over the place. Typically when period length shortens, it’s usually an indicator that your follicular are showing down on progesterone production. This is when woman have heavy bleeding with clots.

Do everything you can to give your body all the help you can. Eat really well, a multi vitamin, get to sleep by 10:00pm every night, drink water, a little exercise, rest and do something’s for yourself.  In peri these things come and go. Plus it’s winter, which does change some of our hormones.

Hope this helps. At least there are some things you can do and try.

In peri, I once bleed heavily for 10 days. Thought it stopped, but nope, came back for another 5 days.   It’s not that level steady system we enjoyed for so many many years.

    Dear Mamaw

I had Constant spotting in peri, there didnt seem a start or end just constant spotting, I had it checked out for peace of mind and if you are concerned I would do the same but like I said, this was one of my peri symptoms x

This sounds like me.  This only started once I missed periods.  I’ve been spotting. For about 4 months now with about 5 days of nothing in a month.

I’m seeing a Gynea next week to eliminate anything serious.  I’m more worried about a biopsy because smears have always been painful for me.

I can only say that this is common during Peri menopause.  Be careful about googling too much, we all do it but it can scare you to death.  Remember that everyone is different in their journey.  Take care xx
