Perimenopause symptoms on birth control pill?

Hello! First time poster!

I'm a week shy of turning 50. I've been on the pill since my 20's for irregular periods. I'm still on the pill, and my Gyn said she will most likely take me off at my next appt (end of the year). I've been having many symptoms that people are describing as peri/menopausal. My question is, has anyone experienced these symptoms while still on the pill? Thanks for any insight.

i too was on the pill since my 20's then came off 6 months bfore turning 50.

i did have hot flushes during day insomnia sore joints then as i came off had high blood pressure full on hot flushes cant sleep headaches

the pill masks some of tge symptoms but u will still get them as the pill doesnt have that much estrogen

actually the pill has much, much higher levels of eostrogen (provided its a combination pill) - thats why it stops ovulation - it overides our own production. my doc said that I was on much higher levels when on the pill than I am now on HRT.

thanks so much for your reply. i know the pill can mask symptoms but it's reassuring to know you can still have mild symptoms. for example, my cheeks will get flushed once in a while, but i don't get the full on flushing, sweating, etc. i recently started getting more consistent migraines right before my period.

yes I started having heart palpitations (just occasional mild flutters) while on Diane 35 (even though I didnt know thats what i was feeling, i thought it was my stomach). I didnt know about perimenopause at that stage and blamed the pill, so i stopped cold turkey and within 6 months i was living in hell with all the peri symptoms out in full swing.

wow, i'm sorry you went through that. so i guess you can still get some milder symptoms even while on the pill. thanks for your response .
