Perimenopause terrible drowsiness - help!

Posted , 4 users are following.

Hi ladies. I'm 46 and for the past three weeks I've been so drowsy all I want to do is sleep. It started the day before my last period, possibly coincidence. Has anyone experienced this on their peri or meno journey? It's debilitating. I'm speaking to the doctor this week. I've never experienced anything like it, day after day. Crushing sleepy fatigue. I had a good uninterrupted 6 hours sleep yesterday which is very rare for me but still sleepy. It's such a struggle to get through the day!

you're definitely not alone! i seem to oscillate between being an insomniac 2 weeks out of the month to someone who literally feels the NEED to sleep all the time. and yes this seems to coincide with PMS and period weeks... which aren't always predictable either... hang in there. I wish I had goo advice for you but I'm trying to figure it out as well. definitely following this thread!

Thank you so much for replying. I feel quite desperate. Having bloods this week. It is a mystery!

Same here.. my endocrinologist suggested a Super B complex vitamin, with all the B vitamins. Turns out my B12 levels are low and I have almost no folic acid. It took about a month but I'm not hitting a wall of exhaustion everyday. Still tired some days but not absolutely fatigued. Maybe discuss it with your doc and see what they say.

Thanks and glad you have seen some progress, that's great. My bloods were all fine and I take B vitamins. Trying now to take better care of myself in general and see if it helps. Being a woman is not easy!
