Perimenopause Weight Gain: Can't Find Doctor to Balance Hormones, Nothing helps!!!!!

Hi ladies, I feel like I'm in an alien body. The past 6 months my weight has ballooned in my stomach and breasts yet I'm eating less than ever (always been Paleo and now intermittent fasting). It started when a naturopath gave me natural progesterone to help shrink a fibroid since my progesterone levels were very low. My estrogen is "normal for my age". When I took the progesterone I quickly put on a ton of weight and even after stopping I couldn't lose the weight I gained, and the progesterone my stomach seems to keep growing as well as breasts. I'm gaining a bit of weight on the rest of me but mainly my middle section. I am so uncomfortable and this is not normal for how little and what I eat. I am on the progesterone-only pill for the fibroid but I was on that a year prior with no weight gain. I hate my body. I look pregnant and my clothes don't fit. I've gone up 2 pant sizes. I know some of it could be the fibroid's growth spurt, it's now 11cm but the breasts etc I'm assuming are just hormonal. I'm told fibroids don't create or effect hormones. I even went fully vegan for 3 months but didn't lose weight and fibroid grew. I'm taking Chinese herbs to shrink the fibroid and am not sure they are good or bad. I feel like no natural doctor can be trusted with this after one gave me the progesterone that started the weight gain. I'm looking into ways to remove the fibroid but I also really need a doctor who has a clue about balancing my hormones even if I can get the fibroid out. My OBGYN says it's a mystery and says I may not actually go into full menopause for a few more years. I feel like a whale and dieting and exercise don't seem to make a difference. I've had my other hormones tested and are normal. No insulin resistance etc. I don't eat sugar, grains etc. Anyone know a hormone doctor with a clue in the CA area? I want to punch every man I see since they have nothing close to what we deal with. Thanks. Sincerely --Fattie the Middle Aged Whale

there is a female endocrinologist in Santa Barbara, CA, that specializes in female hormones. She's also written lots of books on this topic. I will mention shes VERY expensive. Like choke when you hear the price expensive and doesn't take insurance. But you could read her books.
(Not allowed to mention names on this forum which is stupid if you ask me)

Hi thanks for the reply I think I might know who you mean if she was on Goop or something and so definitely crazy expensive. I think I looked at her book and it wasn't anything life-changing. So many people talk about what you eat but I've been Paleo and gluten-free since I was 18 long before they were trendy. So I sincerely doubt diet is the cause. Plus I tried vegan and didn't help.

Hi thanks for the reply. You are very lucky to be 56 and not menopausal! I'm only 47 and clearly on my way, not sure I will make it longer than 51 or so if that. Be glad you don't have weight gain. 😃
