perineum

Sorry for the graffic explanation ladies but iv just been to the toilet and I seem to have fresh blood around the perineum and around the entrance to my vagina. I'm 4 weeks post opp now from a rectocele and for the last few days it has been tender around the perineum area. I did ask the doctor and they just sais to use a barrier cream like sudacream. I'm just wondering if this is normal or should I be worried.xxx

Hi Topsi. I'm 7 weeks post op for rectocele surgery. It is probably due to stitches dissolving. Try not to worry and keep resting hon. Make sure you don't push when going to the loo!! X

    Hi Topsi,

I had occasional fresh spot bleeding from around perineum area around 4/6 weeks.

Think it was mainly because I was trying to cut back the lactulose and possibly being a bit to rough wiping after toilet.

I was also starting to potter about the house and doing 2x10 min walks around same time. So felt I was not exactly overdoing things.

They reckon that the areas around the stitches are starting to heal and wounds start to knit as the stitches start to loosen around the 4/6 week mark.

It was not particularly heavy bleeds but definitely new fresh bright red, which eventually turned to a pinky colour so no infection. Think the posterior repair always takes longer to heal and that area is particularly tender!

If you are worried that it is not just with straining on toilet, matron may be able to advise you!

    Hope it sorts itself,

    Take care,

    Phyl x💖

    Thanks 2jo joc & 4phyllis

I have been moving round more and it's in credibly itchy now around the area. I was thinking it maybe because of the stitches loosening but it still feels really peculiar down there like I have something stuck up in my vagina(sorry). I'm not sure this is normal or not. I'v just been to the toilet again and the bleeding seems to have subsided for now but still very sore. 😕 thankyou for the reassuring though.xxx

Hi Topsi, I have had a A&P three weeks four days ago and counting, I would suggest keeping paracetamol going, I have the itching and that is awful also the throbbing, when that is bad I take codeine( matron told me to do that)

the he feeling of somthing there I gave to it comes and goes and the heaveyness comes and goes depending on what I di.

I didn't bleed a lot for the first two week but the last week and a half have had some bleeding not a lot but now slowing down.

i still keep getting wind pain which is awful, hope this helps.

a question for you can you now sit down on your bottom and for how long?

I can sit down now but it wasn't till about the 3 week mark. But I invested in a donut cushion which helped a lot. Hope you feel better soon.xxx

I can sit gfor about an hour, today better Han any other so far just frustrated, could you feel the stiches chic

I can feel the stitches hun. I found sitting to the side easier or sitting with my bum slightly with a cushion up against it and a cushion under my knees. I totally know how you feel with the frustration it's driving me mad. Iv nearly completed the whole 6 seasons of pretty little Liars 😂. Keep your chin up hunni.

I had a really bad week last week I felt so weepy and miserable but feeling a bit better this week.xxx

If you continue to bleed like that Topsi you must see your doctor. It could be a 'one off' because a suture is ready to come out but if there's a lot of blood in the toilet bowl then speak to someone.

Thanks matron I think it may have just been a stitch because it stopped bleeding now just tender around the area. Xxx

That's good news Topsi. After I wrote my last post to you I was thinking of other reasons for the bleed and I did wonder if it could have been a clot that hadn't dispersed. If the bleeding has stopped that's probably the most plausible explanation.
