Perinial abscess

Hi looking for some advice .I had surgery 6 weeks ago to remove an abscess near my anus (a pain i dont want to experience again !)First time for me I have always kept a clean bill of health .I was kept in hospital for a few days being quite unwell .I was told by the surgeon and doctors i would have to come back as they suspected a fistula .After 3 weeks wound healed well however around the 3rd week i had a hen do abroad where i took unwell .Severe stomach cramps and bleeding from back passage for 2 days. When i returned home I contacted GP and was seen by a nurse who told me it was likely just a bug/gastritis .I managed to get my follow up appointment with the dr who removed my abscess fast tracked. Appointment was today lasting a whole 3 minutes ,no physical examination just a discussion .Told him my wound had healed well and all of the above.I Also told him i had a dull ache in my side for months that i thought was due to a damaged rib from the gym .Anyway i was told no further follow up appointment was necessary for the time being as these things sometimes happen and they can be a one off or due to a fistula it could reoccur .I now have it in my head that I am just waiting for it to happen again .Am i being silly and should I accept what i have been told ?I Half expected a referral for colonoscopy just to check ...all advice welcome ..thanks

I'm confused here. Did you ever get the stomach cramps and bleeding checked out? It sounds like something key was completely overlooked. The abscess may be a symptom of a bigger problem, for all you know. You could also be fine. However, it's always smart to have everything checked out, from the soreness in your side, to the stomach cramps and bleeding. The latter could be from a parasite. People brush that off, thinking only third world countries have that problem, but parasites are more common than you'd realize.
