Period cycle

Hi! I'm 23 and have a 11cm cyst on my right ovary. Ultra sound showed a simple cyst, it's round, doesn't have blood supply, doesn't show any lumps or bumps.

But my ct scan showed a solid part but my surgeon thinks the solid part is my ovary but getting cancer specialist to look at it and awaiting a phone call which I will get this week.

My op is booked for 26th Feb. Plus all my blood including tumor markers are normal.

Is it common for when your in your period symptoms from the cyst like pain on right side gets worse ??

hi holly, yes definitely... i've had right sided pain lower right back pain that comes and goes and it seems to get worse when i have my period. I have a similar thing in that they found an ovarian mass back in november which was 48mm x 42 initially and my gyn ultrasound a couple weeks later it shrunk to 34 x 22 mm. Turns out i don't actually have a cyst, my gyn thinks it's an inflammation in the ovary but like you, it presented as mixed - so liquid and solid parts, which they expect to be my ovary. my last review the measurements were pretty much the same although the gyn said it looked more normal and again slightly smaller so she expects it to resolve itself... i'm back for another review on the 28th of feb and she also scheduled me for an exploratory laporascopy as i'm still experiencing pain. i dare say it's eased off over the last month but it still comes and goes. as you, it doesn't have any blood vessels or indication that it could be malignant and my tumor markers were all normal as well. so it looks like when they say there are solid parts it doesn't always mean growths, just your own tissue that's inflamed. Best of luck with your op, you have nothing to worry about and once it's out then you'll definitely have peace of mind!

I'm glad I'm not the only one that symptoms get worse on period.

I had a phone call from my consultant/surgeon today and he took my case to cancer specialist because of the solid part and now they what a MRI scan done before my op on 26th I wasn't sure on the reasons of this.

      Thank you so much!
