Period like cramps/deep pelvic pain

Hi everyone, I haven’t been on here for a while and hope everyone coping ok - for the last few months I’ve been suffering from deep pelvic pain, tummy pain and lower back pain which can get quite intense at times.  I’ve just had bloods done and had a trans against pelvic scan and all is normal.  My periods are out the window! Only had three last year but just have this continuing pain which does come and go but it’s really getting me down - does anyone else suffer from this when periods are sporadic? Would love some reassurance as my doctor thinks I’m mad and being over treated! Ps: when I got my last period, the pain went for about 3 weeks but now it’s back - the guy who did my pelvic scan said I only had very few follicles left on the ovary and that this last period could be the last hurrah (as he put it) but why the continuing pain? Any comments would be much appreciated x

I am perimenopausal and on HRT Estrogen with a mirena coil fitted. I don’t really have periods now as a result of the coil which is a blessing from what I had before which were horrendous and gave me low iron etc.  However I still get pelvic pain at times when my period wouldn’t have been due which can be very painful. Last night I was lying on the floor on my side to try and alleviate it! I have no idea what would be happening with my periods if it wasn’t for the coil but I don’t feel better off from a pain point of view!!!!!

Hi Sophie, sounds like maybe you are getting ovarian cysts.,did you get a vaginal ultrasound? I had one on my left ovary that was extremely painful. Like the pain you describe. They watched it, because sometimes you need to have them removed, but mine did eventually go away.

I would suggest you try to find another gyn who wants to get to the bottom of this.  There are other conditions which can cause pain, like endometriosis.  Has your doctor discussed this condition with you? xx
