Period or not? (warning: a little graphic)

Okay, so...I've been very irregular for about a year and a half, peri based on hormonal testing. So far this cycle I'm on CD 55.

So I've had spotting for now the fourth day. On the first day I assumed it was my period starting, but it was all brown...like in the old days when I used to spot before a period (in the past couple years it's just started straight out, no brown, but I mean in more recent history).

Then on the second day I had a spot of bright red plus a little clot. So I thought: Okay, this is it. Put a tampon in, didn't feel anything happened, took it out probably six hours later, tiny bit of brown and that was it.

Yet I have the spotting pretty much every time I wipe. Not a lot, not enough to reach my undies (or pad, actually, I'm wearing protection just in case).

Is this actually a period??? Or just some sort of "my hormones are crazy" spotting? I mark my cycles on FertilityFriend and so far I've just marked it as spotting.

Anyone have much ligher periods while in peri?

not sure but my aunt had the same thing she explain this same to me i have been following this site to try and help my aunt out she is going through menopause and has so much going on she aches in her shoulders and crys  and she gets sad for no reason she is really going through a rough time but in your case she did say almost the same thing about the brown and only seeing it when she wipes

    Hi Mel,

Your graphic description cheesygrin sounds pretty much the way my last 3 periods you have when you don't have a period went before they stopped.  Last proper period, quite heavy was September 2013, Jan 2014 I had what you described for a few days, May 2014 the same for a few days then July 2014 just 1 day, a little brown and about 1 spot of very light pink is the only way I can describe it.  That 1 day in July seemed to mark the end of peri and into menopause.  From what I was told matter what colour it is still classed as a period and the countdown resumes.  Hopefully you are on the way to menopause...take care

    Jo xx
