Perminant Pins and Needles in Forehead for 4 years...

I have had pins and needles in my forehead for about 4 years now. It feels like there are tiny bugs crawling around just under my skin, and only on my forehead. When I wipe my hand across my forehead, the sensation goes away temporarily. If I apply light pressure, such as wearing a hat or putting sunglasses on my head, the sensation goes away significantly. I have been to over 15 doctors and 3 specialists (1x ENT, 2x Neurologists). The ENT checked my sinsuses with X-Ray and found nothing. 1 ENT got me to do a CAT scan and MRI, and found nothing. Another Neurologist tried injecting botox in the area to try and reduce the sensation, and this also did nothing. I even tried acupuncture, this did nothing.

I feel I am running out of options. As it does not cause me physical pain, and it is not physically noticeable, people seem to not really care. It does however cause me severe discomfort, and I can’t live the rest of my life with this. If you have any idea what this is, or how I could fix it, please let me know!

    Hi Martyn,

I am sorry your suffering these sensations with your forehead. I don't know the answer as i am not medically trained. It seems like you have exhausted many treatments and seen different specialists. What i can say is that i have experienced sensations in my legs which feel like ants crawling underneath the skin, i also have prickling and stabbing sensations and find clothing hurts when close to the skin. It seems like the nerves are on fire. From what i have concluded from my Gp and reading online, it is Neuropathy. Can be many causes and no cure. I take Pregabilyn and Naproxen which calms it down but some days are worse than others.

I would look into Neuropathic pain and see if it fits your symptoms. I hope someone can shed some light for you.

    Elizabeth
