Peroneal Tendon Subluxation

I had ankle surgery for 2 torn ligaments and a torn peroneus brevis tendon over a year ago. At my final follow up appointment last September the doctor was examining my ankle during eversion and noticed that my peroneal tendons were dislocating or in other terms (peroneal tendon subluxation.) He told me to be cautious but this hasn't seemed to bother me in the past year so I haven't really been too attentive to it. I have been feeling some pain on the outside of my ankle recently, but I am not sure if it is due to the subluxation or from when I rolled my ankle last week. Rolling my ankle wasn't too painful and I could walk fine afterwards but I have been in quite some pain since then which has made me worry that I either damaged the tendons or ligaments again. Has anyone had peroneal subluxation, and if so, how have you dealt with it? In my experience it has not caused me much trouble, but I am afraid that if I am not cautious enough I will end up injuring my ankle again.

I have similar experience with peroneal tendons that snap out of place from a injury. It's called peroneal tendon subluxation. I wear shoes that prevent my ankles from rolling when walking . The doctor told me rolling the ankle/foot can eventually cause more tendon problems. The outside of the ankle is where the two tendons are located. If your experiencing pain in that area it might be worth it to wear shoes that don't allow the ankles to roll. Be sure to have good arch supports in all the shoes you wear , important for a good heel to toe gate.
