Persistant lymph nodes.

Ok so this is a long one.

I am really overly upset with the health system.

In january i had glandular fever. It took 3 months to recover from and then i was back to playing netball 3 days a week and hitting the gym 3 days a week. I work part time and study part time. Im 23 and usually eat as healthily as possible.. no alcohol.

In July i came down with the flu probably viral. Everyone in my work place had it.

4 weeks later i was still overly fatigued - sleeping 10 hours plus naps during the day. I found it hard to last an entire 8 hour shift at work. I was still dizzy and nausous.

Dr said post viral fatigue.

September...

Swollen lymph nodes on my neck... not large, just noticeable. Quite a few. Still fatigued.

Dr sends me for ultrasound for thyroid.

I am unable to run so no more netball.

I get out of breath very easily. And mostly too fatigued to play sports or gym.

I am working less and not attending classes. I am so tired.

Blood test and scan for thyroid are normal. Dr seems to think im being a hyperchondriac. So off to a new doctor.

Ecg, abdominal scan, echo, numerous blood tests.

Normal normal normal.

It is now the beggining of october...

I am depressed about my condition. No sports or gym since... finding it hard to maintain my weight. Dropped from 65kg to 60 kg despite dramatically changing my diet to high carbohydrate food for energy.

Swollen lymph nodes in groin. Complaining of fullness in ear.

See ENT after 6 days of nasal irrigation, steaming and steroid nasal spray for fullness in ear.

ENT says nothing wrong with ears.

Go to dentist for annual check up and he thinks in grinding my teeth in my sleep so takes an xray to fit mouth guard. Wisdom teeth need to come out... no pain and not urgent. Just no room for them.

However... sinus' looked blocked (from what he can see) suggests i see an ent -_-

However i do not have seasonal allergies (or i havnt before) my nose is not runny or blocked and i am not sneezing.

New booking with ent.

Still fatigued. Dizzy when standing.

No pain around face or in lymph nodes except behing left ear. Small painful spot might be lymph node. Soooo fatigued general feeling of unwell.

Any suggestions ?

Starting to get scared it might be lymphoma.

Not sure if sinus infection - shall update next week after ent.

Current symptoms.

Dull pressure in abdomen

Randomly itchy sculp (comes and goes)

Fullness in ears

Fatigue (soooooooo fatigued)

Very upset over feeling sick.

Swollen lymph nodes in groin.

New one on the left side.

Stiff neck from swollen lymph nodes.

Anyone with suggestions will help.

I feel as though this process is taking so long and im really getting to my wits end. Looking at suggestions to ask my doctor about when i see them next. However no point until after i see the ent.

Thank you in advance.

    Hello.

I know this post was 11 months ago but I really need some answers

Other than migraines in 2016 I was fine. New meds were on board headache free down to one a month yay. This was the only meds I was taking besides an anacid once in a while.

My story starts April 2016. I work in a hospital. Night shift busy floor.

As I was testing patients blood sugar. The lancet I was using felled to retract

Patient was a full blown aids patient.

Went to the ER got meds for 6 weeks. Went to occupational health and was told to make sure I came to them with any sickness while on these meds.

Within 3 weeks I was sick. Flu like symptoms upper respiratory issues. Got antibiotics

2 weeks later I get the flu but could not be treated due to antiviral meds. Upon check up from the flu. I tell the Dr's I still feel like flu. Bone pain weakness low grade fever glands all swollen/all these symptoms were still there.

Was told it's all the antiviral meds and symptoms would go away soon after meds were stopped.

Then I got a uti and more antibiotics.

It's been over a yr. I've been sick every since.

I've had multiple hiv test all negative

But no one can explain the chronic fatigue bone pain Liver swelling

    All test come back normal.

Had one dr say Epstein Barr.

I've had every test possible. Been out of work since May

I have no energy at all.

Have a diagnosis of fibromyalgia Rheumatoid and Osteoarthritis. But that dr refused to treat me until I get a biopsy of the lymph nodes.

Infectious disease dr says biopsy. Immunologist says biopsy family dr say biopsy

    Oncologist says biopsy

But insurance doesn't want to approve it.

Did have an ultrasound of the liver it's fatty. No tumor there praise God.

    I need answers

I've been told that the antiviral meds could have caused all these issues.

I've been waiting over 6 months for a lymph node biopsy.

I too thought this was all in my head. But I get physically sick if I do almost anything. Hard to do anything. Not enjoying anything

    Any ideas please answer fast.

      Hi Melanie,

Gee it sounds like you have had a bad trot over the past 11 months, I can relate to your anxiety knowing what it is like waiting for diagnosis or reports from tests.

Life can be so unkind at times.

Reading your post, you mentioned two possibilities both of which have been brought up in discussions with my wife's doctors.

She has very similar symptoms to those of yourself, except for the fact that she has lupus, osteo and rheumatoid arthritis. Mainly because of an auto accident (head on between car and truck) resulting in breaking everything from her neck down and spending 4 years in a wheelchair, being told that she would never walk again.

Her determination and guts sees her walking, although with a limp, but managing life as best she can.

Recently suffering from different pains, her GP referred her to a rheumatologist for assessment and both epstein barrs, fibromyalgia and polymyalgia entered the equation.

With that information coupled with yours, I am wondering if you should be considering an appointment with a Rheumatologist.

I believe that you are in your early to mid twenties, my wife is in her early 70's, so there are is a difference in so many factors, but perhaps it's worth a look.

I hope that you are able to get a referral and if so, please let me know via this link.

Wishing you the very best of luck.

      Cheers,

      JohnEdna.

Hi Melanie, have you ruled out tonsils and adenoids? Just because you mentioned upper respiratory issues. I had a similar experience for the last 4+ months where I caught a viral infection and was left with swollen glands, mental and physical exhaustion even after 10+ hours of sleep, dizziness, nausea etc. I tried two types of antibiotics and nothing was showing up in any blood test. Since I felt some pressure in my sinuses and I've had tonsil stones in the past I sought out an ENT specialist and had them removed. Afterwards he found that my tonsils were chronically infected to the point where they had scarring, debris etc. which was what was compromising my immune system as now they are out I feel fine again. Sorry if this doesn't help, I really hope you find your answer.

Hi I’m exactly the same in month 7, what was your outcome? Xx

This is me too a T! Though a little different!

I fell sick around Mid October 2017, I was absoloutely fine and the next day I was completely bed ridden with a fever, chills and swollen glands. This also happened in February 2017. The home doctor doctor diagnosed it is Pharygitis. I began to feel a little better but consistently had a swollen, sore right submandibular gland/lympnode.

In November the pain got extremely bad, so I started taking Panadeine forte and Nuferon Plus. In January I visited my local GP who performed an Blood Cell test, Ultra Sound and TMJ scan of my teeth and Jaw. The Ultra Sound doctor said I had swelling but nothing abnormal and that my teeth weren't causing it. Yeah my GP asked if it was my Anxiety causing it as I do suffer from it and TMJ.

I went to my dentist who felt the swollen gland and and referred me to a oral specialist. Thpogh the wait was a month. Still taking Panadeine Forte and beginning to feel frustrated and upset, I seeked a second opinion from another GP. I asked to be tested for Glandular Fever, I was doctor google at this stage. This doctor was better, he also tested my Iron, Cells, Thyroid, Urine, CMV and the glanular fever.

On February the 7th I got the results. Everything was fine but Glandular Fever.

I was tested positive for having it in the past and also recently (2 Antibodies). It was a sigh of relief like an answer. However the pain and swollen gland/lympnode persistented. The fatigue really began to set in. Meanwhile, I was taking lots of days off work due to the discomfort.

Finally I had my Oral Appointnent, he immediately felt my discomfort. He said I had 3 very swollen lympnodes on my right side (my submandibular). He booked me for a CT Silogram and Physical Silogram to check for stones/Blocked duct. CT scan showed swelling but again nothing major. The physical Silogram did not work as they could not get the tiny tube in my duct (happens to some people). My Specalist could not do anything further for me. This is where I took 2 weeks off work unpaid due to feeling f*****g depressed. He now has referred me to another specialist who deals with infectious diseases and systematic issues.

However this isn't until April 25th!!

I am in pain every day and night.

Consistently take pain relief and my vitamins.

It's hard to go to work and be yourself.

I really feel how upset you are, because so am I. Just try and be positive and get as much rest as you can, that's what everybody keeps saying to me.

Ps. I have all ypur symptoms

    Xo

I decided to get a sevond opinion
