Persistent penile Rash/irritation/skin peeling for over 6 months

Posted , 4 users are following.

Hi guys, first sorry for my bad english, it's not my mother language

I'm dealing with some strange skin problems on my glans/foreskin, for about 6 months

Tried 4 different uros, many creams, and antifungal/bacterial medication, they said it's nothing, just a skin irritation, std tests all negative

Even changed my underwear, to a cotton one, nothing helps

Sometimes It get better, then worsen again, now there some peeling parts on foreskin, and rash on glans

And this Gray peeling skin on foreskin, this is recent, what's this?

I've been drinking to much alcohol, and Coke in the last months, may it's making worse?

Can someone help?

Thanks in advance!

No problems with your English, with the exception I am not sure what you mean by " uros " ?

The condition you have looks very similar to Lichen Sclerosus (LS) - the Male specific version is formally known as Balanitis Xerotica Obliterans (BXO). I was diagnosed with BXO more than 7 years ago - there is no cure for this, but it is easily treated with the correct Steroidal Ointment - it does not interfere (stop) with your sex life, if you are sexually active. The condition has NO link to sexual activity.

All of the issues you mention are relevant, such as trying cotton underwear - it is what you wash them in that is the important factor. Wash all the clothes (for example sports shorts / cycle shorts) that will touch your penis with Liquid Soap Flakes - large supermarkets will have this and you use it in your washing machine in the normal way.

And yes, drinking lots of alcohol and Coke will impact on the condition. What you need to do is to prove what actual condition you have so that it can be treated correctly, then you can look at what you eating and drinking. If you have LS / BXO what you need to achieve is the healthiest possible outcome for your Penile skin - this sometimes means excluding some foods, and taking particular Vitamin and food Mineral Supplements.

If by Uros - you actually meant Urologists ? - you will need to find a specialist who can diagnose your condition - as the alternative is that you have a severe Dermatological reaction going on with your skin.

Such a specialist may only exist in one of the larger cities in the country where you live, a Urologist or Dermatologist with knowledge of Lichen Sclerosus can diagnose what you have by doing a Medical Biopsy - this is relatively painless, but the analysis will prove which condition you actually have. You could go to your Regular Doctor and tell them you suspect you have LS / BXO as they may give you access to the correct Steroidal Ointment if you need to get this Prescribed to you.

I will post below some general advice (NOT specifically aimed at you) that you need to be aware of, particularly, getting your Penile Hygiene to the highest possible standards, and the other things to be aware of such as applying any creams, lotions, lubricants for sex or masturbation and even how you shower and wash your Penis regularly. Please let me know how you progress with this, and if you have any further questions simply update this thread / Forum Post .....

Penile Hygiene Regime to Combat Specific Problems

The best approach is not to use ANY SOAP on the Glans / Head of your penis - wash with water only EVERY time you have urinated, after sexual arousal, and ejaculation. If you are not circumcised, protect the Glans of your penis every time you take a shower by drawing the foreskin as far forward as you can, then wash everywhere else, thoroughly rinse off all the gels / shampoo and suchlike, then expose your glans wash it with the water only using the inside of your hand, then each time you have washed it you must make sure it is 100% dry immediately afterwards.

After you have put this in place and you still have the situation going on you need to look at what else your penis is coming into contact with on a fairly regular basis.  The likely suspects are:-

    • any chemical compounds such as skin cream / lotions, baby oil, oil based lubes, chemicals inside condoms (e.g. easy-on and spermicides) you need to exclude these one by one to discover the culprit, the easiest approach is to exclude everything to start with, then once things are on the mend, introduce each individual item to discover what has caused this in the first place.
    • if non of these make any difference you need to look to things such as washing powder in which you wash your clothes, and underwear in, in particular.  The simple alternative to washing powder is Liquid Soap Flakes, most sizeable supermarkets stock this in their own brand names - and you use this in your washing machine instead of powders or ANY fabric conditioner type additives.

If all this produces no resolution to what you have, or your condition dramatically worsens, seek medical advice from your regular Doctor - but please note, many do not fully understand the differences between the potential skin conditions you may actually have.  Therefore, the better course of action may be to see a Dermatologist, or alternatively, go to a Specialist Sexual Health Service and ask to see the duty Urologist.

      Thanks by your reply

      Yes I mean urologist

What foods should I stop eating? I read about lycopene from tomato being a potentially skin irritant

I was eating garlic and onion daily, did you know if they make worse what I have?

And I'm using boric water 3% daily, should I stop?

The biopsy remove a part of the glans? It become scarred?

Another infos: the foreskin becomes thin, and frenulum teared several times

And there many small purple patchs that can't seen in the Photos

I'll go to a new doctor as soon as possible and try everything you said and keep you updated. Thanks a lot my friend

Hello, thanks for the reply - at least my full reply has made it through the moderation process.

I can only guess you live in a Mediterranean country? If so, the basis of your diet should be quite good. So no problem with garlic and onion. Tomato should be okay too. Boric water should be okay, you could reduce the percentage and see what happens, or stop using it for a week or 2, then decide whether to start again, or not. If you actually have LS / BXO there are other things like this you will need to be aware of and put in place to make your penile skin as healthy as possible and to reduce irritation and other unpleasant symptoms as well.

Any part of the skin removed for a biopsy will completely recover and in a few weeks you will unlikely know where it was taken from. They only remove from the upper layers of the skin - not the complete skin. Likely they would take a sample from your foreskin, which will heal even quicker!

I have no knowledge of preserved meats that you would buy from a delicatessen so you will need to research these for yourself if they form a regular part of your diet.

The foods to remove from your diet (as much as possible) are diary based fresh foods, red meat, anything with a high fat content. Certainly everything with a high sugar content - so coke has to go! Try to eliminate as much sugar and diary foods from your diet. Many people also have to exclude wheat products from their diet - so look up Gluten Free diets and foods - your should also be aware that many people believe that Lichen Sclerosus is an Auto-Immune condition - so search for diets for this condition too ....

Once a Doctor has confirmed what you actually have, and has given you some medication, we can look at what else you need to put in place with your diet, your treatment, and other essentials to do and not do ... please do update to let readers know how you are progressing with this .....

    I'm from South America

Man I eat a lot of red meat, thank you for telling me this!

I've heard about the glutem too

Did you know if caffeine could worse this condition?

I'll try everything and keep this updated, this sh** is ruining with my life

Maybe with right diet, and some life changes (re-started swimming last week), and medications if needed. It will look normal again? The bumps go away, the redness, grey patchs...

    Thank you!

Hey guys, long time no update!

The skin itself healed pretty well, just by changing diet, but now there's a bump

    Anyone know what is this?

Bumps like this can have many causes, they can occur naturally themselves, they could have been caused by considerable force being applied to the penis, or it could be a wart of some kind.

Do you apply considerable force to your penis: so, some men do this during masturbation, perhaps during sex, as part of 'sex games', or as part of a penile development or enlargement process.

Will this bump disappear over time?

After my balanitis healed, this thing showed up, probably a scar?

    Thanks!
