Persistent penis redness and sensitivity

?Hi guys,
I've seen my GP and two sexual health professionals about my problem but nothing has helped so far. I'm going to book another appointment with the last sexual health doctor I saw mid September but thought I'd try other avenues as well.
To make it easier, I've listed the key points below. Not sure if photos are allowed due to the nature of it but hopefully the words help.
Since May 2017;
Around that time: tried argan oil as a moisturizer for the penis (cause?);
Feeling of itchiness, dryness, sensitivity (including when receiving oral). Penis head looks dry and almost scaly when flaccid;
Look of patchy redness, sticky white substance when rolling back foreskin, when touched rolled into smega like pieces; when that happens the smell is not fresh - the smegma substance has actually stopped in the past month or so;
Been managing on and off with Micreme H Cream since late May;
GP took a culture sample from under foreskin in May but didn't return any result;
Have done sexual health screening and came back all clear;
Uncomfortable to have sex;
Sexual health nurse mentioned it could be balanitis however I've tried sensitive washing powder and aqueous cream, virgin coconut oil, and lots of Greek yogurt intake (in case it's yeast infection or something) but nothing worked;
The most recent visit to the sexual health doctor didn't flag any serious concern, he said it didn't look like yeast infection or a fungal thing (however the gland is working overtime), and prescribed a steroid cream (?Locoid Lipocream 0.1%) which I've been using for the past 2 weeks.
The Locoid cream doesn't seem to have improved my condition, really the only outstanding symptoms that are bothering me are the redness around the base of the head, and the sensitivity when I'm erect or having sex. The skin on my penis head feels somewhat more fragile and prone to tear so that's not great either.
Appreciate any genuine feedback on this in advance.

Hi John,
I am very interested in whether or not you have solved your health problem as I too am having the exact same symptoms and issues. I believe I too have balanitis but I have not had an success in solving this.
I've had mine for eight LONG and horrible months. In this time I have been diagnosed with herpes simplex one and have been taking acyclovir for this. There has been no change and my lesions for herpes have gone and disappeared. I have been to see my GP countless times, sexual health specialist at least 8-9 times, a urologist and a dermatologist and each one just keeps giving me micreme and insisting that it is fine, when it is obviously not fine and is ruining my life. Sex hurts, my penis feel sensitive all the time. It is red and flaky and has these dots that come and go. I've also tried drying it with the dryer, coconut oil, aqueous cream, probiotics, fluconazole. Have you been able to have any success with yours?

Hey man, I'm really sorry to hear you're going through something similar. Nah haven't managed to eradicated my problem either. Saw both my GP and an experienced sexual health professional and both of them are fairly blasé about the issue which a. sort of puts me at ease but b. makes me a bit frustrated as they're pretty much saying "just deal with it".
The only successful thing for me is the Micreme 2x daily, and I was told I could pile it on for longer than the recommended treatment duration without having any complications. This at one stage did take the problem away and my penis was back to normal. So I stopped using the cream, however on the 6th day or so out of nowhere the head was looking red and patchy, then the smegma like substance returned etc.
Pretty annoying alright!

Hey man, luckily I get notifications for this thread. If you haven't already, get your doctor to put you on a week dose of antibiotics (amoxicillin or similar).
I happened to have a minor surgery at the beginning of the year and had to stay on antibiotics for a week and a half. That completely cured the problem so whatever it was it must've been an infection of some sort.
Good luck and update here once you've tried.

I've had similar problems with red penis and irritable urethra some years back after having unprotected sex with a girl when an opportunistic unknown bacteria was contracted. After numerous visits to specialists they were unable to detect, define or offer effective treatment. All normal tests for STD or STI were negative and it seems like end of the line as further tests do not give any definitive answers. I suspected this to be caused by a bacteria infection. STI tests for TV, MG, MI, CT, UP, UU, NG proved negative so I assumed the bacteria involved must be having a cell wall (trichomonas and mycoplasmas do not have cell walls and other antibiotics are required for treating them) and be susceptible to beta lactam antibiotics. I had various courses of oral antibiotics such as Augmentin, doxycycline or amoxicillin trying to find the solution but it never seemed to eradicate it. Like you I had given up hope of cure until I also went into hospital for hernia op. During that time I was given antibiotics intravenously during the operation and also afterwards for 2 days (I think they no longer approve post op antibiotics). Anyway the outcome was the redness and discomfort in my penis and urethra had gone and normal colour and tone returned. It would seem the high serum level of antibiotic achieved and duration of antibiotic was sufficient to overcome any resistance the bacteria could offer. The problem faced when discussing this issue with medical professionals is that IV antibiotic treatment is not a standard procedure for treatment of bacterial infection unless it becomes a systemic problem and infects bladder, prostate or kidneys causing fever and more serious conditions. I didn't remember which antibiotic effected a cure but usually the prophylaxis antibiotic for this type of operation is usually cefazolin (cefalexin). I suppose others with similar problems can try the oral route for cefalexin at high enough dose to try and eradicate the infection but cannot say if it will effect a cure in each particular case.
