Persistent uti not responding to antibiotics

 an anyone advise ifntheynhave had this problem as ive been four weeks now and awaiting another new antibiotic, dr says it may take some time to go. Dont understand how i got it but she says its common after 60.

    The important thing is that the correct antibiotic is used for the bacterium that's causing the problem. For this it's usually necessary to have a lab test done on your urine sample.

      Yes, three done, and the antibiotics were identified but as i take warfarin there are some i cannot have which may be holding up the procedure i think.   I have alsomjust discovered it could be linked to diverticulosis i had eight weeks ago.  Nobody knows for sure.   Next move gp thinks could be longer term antibiotics which is a real pain as they make me so sickly.  What can i do except drink loads of water.

      I’m on a low dose of prophylactic Nitrofurantoin. Recently my urologist suggested I try without. Within 3 days, symptoms returned so I’m back on the one a day regarding me again and I’m fine!
