PH results

Well they were normal, my GP read the letter the consultant sent and apparently my symptoms might not be due to acid or that it could be my pain level is lower than someone who doesn't have acid reflux, i was fuming, i told my GP that i feel my pain level is high and the day i had the test i was well, he said my medication was the same and my consultant wanted to see me in 2 months, i haven't got it yet, he did say to tell him that i'd had a good day.

I hope you all have better luck than me. :x

Hi Kim, don't give up, my PH tests were negative as well. When I went back to see the specialist I explained to him how I was fed up with feeling unwell, took my husband for morale support and I did get upset, I was so fed up with being made to feel there was nothing wrong with me and being put off again. (7 years on) It was from that he said he wanted to do another endoscopy (my 3rd!) to take a biopsy. It was from that biopsy that there was evidence of acid and my acid damage was considerably worse than from my previous scopes. They actually took a pic this time as well because specialist doubted results from previous time! An answer at last that couldnt be doubted. Perhaps that would be an option for you. I am waiting for date for surgery, but even with biopsy results my surgeon isn't convinced it will cure me, like you have been told may be something else - slow transit time of food passing through was one suggestion! Like you I know myself how I feel so hang in there. It seems to me that you have to keep going backwards and forwards before anyting is done. Hope this has helped, there can be light at the end of the tunnel, mine now is to get through the op! Take care San smile

Thankyou so much you have both me made me feel a lot better, i thought oh well they'll put it down to my ibs again, i did mention this to my GP and he said the acid wouldn't come that far up, i don't know about you two but i'm alway's full of wind it's the foulest smell ever if it comes out up or down, ive alway's got belly ache,i keep feeling sick, whatever i eat makes no differance, yes i'm overweight but when i was 10st i was the same.

When i do go to see my consultant i will be letting rip, and hopefully he'll be there because last time it was his under dog and he's the one who's done my letter to my GP and he's never seen me before, where as my consultant as seen me private and nhs, i see him through the nhs now i can't afford private but i wish i could because you get treated better, it's true money talks.

Kim,I know exactly how you feel hun.I too was diagnosed at 18 with ibs. After extensive tests like the ones I have just had to endure, nothing showed up so they put it all down to ibs. When I started with the problems I was very overweight-morbidly obese in fact.I lost weight so that it might cure the adverse symptoms,in fact the symptoms got worse. My consultant insisted that I lost 5 stones before he would even put me on the waiting list to have my gall bladder removed.April 2005 I had my gall bladder removed and I was fine for 3 months after the operation then I started with the same symptoms as if I had my gall bladder back.I was then put under the care of another consultant.I turned up to my local hospital four times and every time I saw his understudy,to be honest I was very badly treated by him and felt very hard done by.I paid in desparation to get sorted and the treatment that I deserve on the NHS.I only paid for the consultants fee all the rest is via the NHS.Sweetheart I hope you get sorted real soon, let me know if you need any advice etc.
