Phantom periods

I'm in my late 40's had some fibroids removed last summer, at the time my Dr. also took out my cooper iud to let the area heal. When I went back at my follow up the provider was apprehensive in putting back the copper iud and wanted me to use a mirena or kylie hormone iud. I didnt want the extra hormones. Anyway since I got the cooper iud out my period has been all over the place. Now I am on day 53 of a cycle, the longest I have had between periods, and yes I did a pregnancy test and it was negative. I know I am definitely perimenopausal but sometimes lately I feel crampy, like my period is coming but nothing is there. This has been happening for the last couple of weeks.

also my body just aches alot at times along with the crampiness and upset stomach.

is there a such thing as phantom periods?

thanks

    Hi Keke,

Just stopping in to say, yes, I believe in the phantom periods!!

I am getting a very spotty bleed every 60 to 75 days now, but have the WORST symptoms around day 10, then around day 24, then again around day 40, then again around 48... just don't bleed or ovulate, but seems like my body is trying very hard!!

Achy body (like the usual "period flu" x10)

cramps in pelvis and low back

    migraines

    digestive issues... upper and lower

    allergies flare

    fatigue

    insomnia

    anxiety

    face breakouts

    ...the list goes on.

I have found that taking it easy makes the symptoms less severe.

Unfortunately it's rare to be able to truly just take it easy.

    Hope you find some relief.

    Sara
