Pharmacist gave me a different brand of sertraline and I’m not coping. Looking for advice/help

Sorry for the long post but I’m having a bad time and just need any input from anyone who might be/might have been in a similar situation. I know similar questions have been asked about brand changes but i'm struggling to find anything that specifically relates to my situation.

So for around 8 months or so I was on 100mg Sertraline (generic brand was Ranbaxy) and was doing really well until I had a blip in March. The doctor increased me to 150mg, however the pills don’t come in 150mg so I had a prescription for 100mg and one for 50mg. I picked them up at the beginning of Match (both packs were Ranbaxy) and had the usual side effects that comes with a dose change for a couple of weeks. I then started feeling like myself again. Not 100% but definitely more able to cope and generally much better.

However, last week I was due to pick up my new prescription and picked it up as usual. Four days into the new prescription and I started feeling really low and then yesterday and today I’m at total rock bottom. I can’t eat, the anxiety and depression is overwhelming to the point where I just don’t want to be here. I wouldn’t do anything to harm myself but I just feel so hopeless.

I checked my pills and while the 100mg ones are the usual brand (Ranbaxy) the 50mg ones are a different brand (phizer/lustral) so I’m guessing, after reading other posts that this is the reason for the change.

I contacted the doctor and asked for a new 50mg prescription so I can ask the pharmacist for my old brand. In the meantime, this morning I cut one of my usual 100mg pills in half and took one and a half of those as I have absolutely no intention in taking lustral again.

After reading other posts I’m reassured that this is the reason but what I want to know is, has anyone else had this? When you went back to your old brand, how long til you felt better? I only took the other brand for 5 days so do you think it won’t take as long for me to get back to normal? I can’t cope with feeling like this any more.

Sorry for rambling but I just need someone to offer some reassurance.
