pharyngeal pouch

I am a 66 year old male and have a pharyngeal pouch and would like to know of others who have, or have had, a pharyngeal pouch-particularly about chocking. Has anyone actually died from chocking under this condition?! How do I know whether food and liquids are not going into my lungs?
Also it makes sleeping difficult due to a constant need to swallow. Two years ago I was told it was too small to comfortably operate on (3.5 cm)- it must have grown and so I am considering asking for the op. What are others experiences?

Hallo ..just thought i would try to.put your mind at rest....i.dont have a problem with a pharyngeal pouch myself..but i am aware of the problem...please dont worry..i.doubt very much if food is entering your lungs...if this happend...you would most most certainly be well aware of it..because the food would not be able to.exit..and would cause an infection....which wou ld make you aware....by the symptoms it would cause.....it does seem very possible that your pouch has grown larger....and is causing you problems....my advice is go.see your Dr....and get your throat examined...if in fact the pouch had got larger...you then could discuss with him.about the operation....i dont think..that people have actualy choked with the pouch...i think.be fore it became so uncomfortable....people would seek help from.their Dr....please do go.see your Dr...and tell.him.of your concerns...and problems sleeping....and he will be able to help you...and talk with you about your concerns....you do.sound worried...so a chat with your GP....should help .
