Pheochromocytoma Symptoms - But It's Not - What Is It?

Writing on behalf of my wife who has been expereincing dibilitating headache pain that started on the right side of her brain and now is focused on the left side. She has had CT scans, MRI, Octreoscan (nuclear), X-rays, urine [including 24-hour cortisol level test] and blood tests which have indicated nothing wrong. Recent lumbar puncture showed normal pressure and test results showed no abnomrmalities aside from slightly elevated red blood cells which her neurologist is not concerned with. She had ALL symptoms of pheochromocytoma but her doctors ruled that out. She has suffered with migraine and cluster headaches most of her adult life but she keeps saying this is different. They do have her blood pressure and heartrate under control with medicaiton. Norco, taken evry 4-hours, does very little to resolve the pain. She feels and functions like a zombie. Any thoughts?

    Hi John,

I have lookp Polycythemia but several things factor in. It doeem to align with the majority of her symptoms, Her red blood cells are "slightly elevated" but not "significantly" according to her doctors. Her doctors want her now to go to specialists to be further evaluated becasue they simply have no idea what may be causing the pain. And that's another clarification in itself - her pain is not a migraine pain - she describes it as a "horrific pain" in her head that started on the rit side and now has moved to the left side of her brain.

Thank you for you input it is most appreciated.
