Phimosis patient worried about lumps under foreskin. (Cancer?)

Hey guys,

long time browser, brand new member of the group. I have a problem that i'm finding very hard to be patient about. I've recently had some urinary issues over the past year that included some minor burning, difficulty urinating, itching, stinging and just a general sensitivity in the glands of my penis. I've had phimosis forever, never retracted beyond the foreskin and has always been very tight.

In the past couple of years i've suffered some pretty bad depression and as a result, my hygiene was poor. I've definitely not been cleaning anywhere near as I should until recently. I've found two bumps on my glands around 0.7 - 1cm in size. They do hurt when messed with but not all the time, they kinda hurt like they're part of the penis only they're clearly extra pieces that are attached. Unfortunately and much to my frustration, I can't remove the glands to check the colour, amount of inflammation etc. I have had discharge that smells but nothing especially colourful or really weird besides one piece of orange stuff, I can only assume was smegma, maybe a year ago.

So my main question is, can I be especially demanding about a circumcision ASAP due to the more likely (in my case, having long term phimosis and inflammation) chances of cancer? I'm really worried that I may be racing against the clock to get this seen to properly and it's impossible to do so without removing the skin.

I'm having a tough time staying patient on this one and your advice is REALLY appreciated,

Thanks guys.

Josh.

Oh yeah, another thing I forgot to mention - I've also been having some pretty bad pelvic pain, some swollen glands in the groin (which in fairness, maybe normal for me as I am scraggly and didn't used to check for them). I'm just rather worried that this isn't going to get treat properly and quickly enough - whether it's a false alarm or not, it just seems wise to make haste and be sure to check these things out, and again, the only way to do this in my case is circumcision, which i'm fine with, i'd do it tomorrow if I had the money.

No advice on this forum is better than seeing a real doctor who can examine you and refer you to an appropriate specialist. It's unlikely to be cancer, but if it was, the earlier you see a doctor the better!

Hello Josh, penile cancer is very rare. The risk factors for it are if you have a sexually transmitted disease called human papilloma virus HPV. Penile cancers happen because of this virus 90 percent if the time. Other times it's poor hygiene, smoking,opiod/drug use. And that's the remaining 10 percent of penile cancers. Penile cancers are so rare buddy, that me Being a urologist in training have yet to see a case of it and I've dealt with some pretty nasty people with over 5 stds. You do not need to get circumcised to retract the skin- you can stretch it like you would gauging an ear. If you are that impatient I would recommend getting on some antibiotics and opting for a partial circumcision. Foreskin have what's called a phimotic band, this is what gets tight in phimosis. If you were to remove this you would not only cure your phimosis but keep the sensitivity and functions the foreskin has. Removing it would cause it to act like a functional foreskin and you could retract it normally. Hope this saves you some money and the pain circumcision has

I already went to a doctor but he shrugged it off as fine. The problem is, he can't see anything because my foreskin is covering everything, there's no way for him to even know if it's fine. I'm worried that this is going to get repeatedly overlooked until it's too late. That's why i'm wondering whether to really try to convince the doctor that it may be urgent and that I need to be able to see what these lumps on my penis are? It just seems like a situation that could lead to trouble considering i'm literally working with lumps that I can't possibly identify rolleyes

It's not so much generic lack of patience as it is a sense of urgency in case something IS wrong.

May I also add, these lumps have been there for a while, perhaps 8 months. Way over the 4 week guideline.

I have something similar, I’ve had it for a year now. It’s like a raised bump / swelling under my foreskin on one side. Did you ever find out what it was? Doctors can’t really diagnose me too due to my right foreskin. It’s been hell.

As many cancers are not in an area of the body that is visible externally, and have to be looked at microscopically by biopsy, seeing the lump would not help too much. I don't feel that your foreskin tightness would be such a disadvantage. Granted, some skin cancers are more obvious to the skilled eye than others, but as far as I know they all have to be biopsied to make a clear diagnosis. If your doctor had any concerns they would refer you to a specialist who would probably arrange a needle biopsy. If you are still worried or the lump changes in size or nature, be sure to go back to get checked. If not, just relax and stay observant.
