Phn 100% Gone For Months... Can The Pain Come Back???

My mother was hit with a horrifying case of shingles on her face from Sep 2017 and suffered until March 2018. The pain has been gradually healing and then since late March, she has been pain free (praise God). She is intensely worried about PHN pain returning. Does PHN pain come back? Do any of you know any cases where PHN pain returns after months of being pain free 100%?

Before the PHN pain left, she did not suffer intensely. The PHN died down to a point where there were two small spots that were bothering her a bit (a spot above her right eyebrow and a spot on her right temple). Throbbing and some tightening, but no allodynia. In the beginning of her PHN battle, she did suffer greatly with burning pains that left her thrashing around on the floor screaming. However, she recovered remarkably fast for being hit so hard.
I am assuming for a patient with this history, that even if the PHN does come back, it is likely that it will leave again promptly. For good. I am choosing to make positive confessions regarding this, as I believe that that is half of the battle.
