phn tiredness?

Hi, I've just recovered from chickenpox, at the age of 49! It was thought I had it as a baby, but possibly didn't build enough antibodies. So, as an adult, I'm sure most of you know that it's much more similar to shingles. Not fun. Went to Dr. after chickenpox had cleared and was put on Gabapentin and a rapid access neurology appt has been arranged as I have numbess over more than half my body, interspersed with sharp stabbing pains, light skin sensations as if being caught in a cobweb and deep muscle and nerve pain. But almost the worst thing is the absolute fatigue, lightheadedness, and lack of 'focus'. I thought it was the Gaba, so discontinued it, but the fatigue remains. I could honestly fall off my feet, even after good sleep. Anyone else get this?

Yes, Yes, and Yes. I experienced all of the above. It is good to be seeing a neurologist. Just be clear and ask them if they know about shingles and/or Post Herpetic Neuralgia. Hang in there and use this site to connect with others who have gone through many of these symptoms.

Get yourself on an anti-viral medication ASAP.

Hi, they missed that boat good and proper, unfortunately. I asked for them 5 times within the window. No go. Up to 85% chance of not getting PHN if anti-virals taken early, apparently. I was speaking to someone the other day, who had been on anti-virals and Gaba for 5yrs with PHN, having missed early treatment. They helped a lot, but only partially numbed the pain. Then developed RSD. Oh, joy. Neuro tomorrow.
