Phone call to DWP

Hi everyone

Just to say my mum rang the DWP this morning to ask for an update about the MR I put in. They received it on 31/01/17. They had already informed me they were awaiting medical evidence from my GP and Consultant. Even though I send evidence with the MR. and a letter from my mum to say she attended my assessment and the assessor had lied. She put everything in detail. Today she was to the same. But explained she had spoken to both my GP practice and the Consultants secretary and been advised by both they had received nothing from DWP. They lady put mum on hold for quite a while so she could find out what was going on. She returned to say it was now with a decision maker who was not happy about the assessors report. She said this was a good thing, as at least we now know someone else is looking at it. Just have to hope the decision is in my favour. Just thought I'd let you all know.

    Hi ya.

Hope all goes well and you get what you deserve. I've just put a MR In and they received it at 5.35am on 16th March 17. I rang them later in the day as I thought 5.35 is very early and I wanted to let them know someone signed for it. The lady said she was putting down on my file and that I rang and stated it had to be there by Monday. But I still haven't received any text or anything. I'm also concerned as the MR had to be there by the 20th of which it was but we all know what the DWP are like. Should I call them again Monday morning to see whether they have seen it yet? This has been going on since November and I can't cope much longer, it's very hard and stressful for sure.

    Thank you in advance.

Can't hurt to call them again. They received mine on 31/01/17 and my mum has called them 3 times for updates. Hope all goes well for you. And your right it is hard and stressful especially when it's down to the assessor not being truthful.

      Hi,

Just so you know that sending mail to DWP that has to be signed for isn't the greatest idea. The reason is because they have an internal posting system where all mail is opened my royal mail, it's then sorted into different piles to different departments, then it gets delivered to the correct place. Just because it's signed for doesn't mean to say it's arrived at the correct department. Post can take 7-10 days to arrive in the correct departement and it's not classed as being there until it's put on the system. Hopefully you'll be fine i'd ring Monday to check though.

Not much of a system though if it is signed by someone but can get lost along the way to the department it is supposed to go to Denise.

In my opinion, it can`t hurt to call them again on Mon and say that you had phoned on 16th Mar and the lady had said she had recorded this on file.

I don`t know, so perhaps Denise or another contributor could confirm, if an application is "lost" in the internal DWP system whether this can affect a claim?

Yes it can affect a claim but having the proof that you posted it (which is why proof of posting is just as affective) then you can fight for your rights. When i first claimed PIP i recieved a letter months later saying i'd missed my f2f assessment. For this reason my file was sent back to DWP and i was told my claim was now canceled. Well it would have been helpful if i had recieved the appointment letter in the first place. I rang DWP and told them i hadn't recieved a letter. They then sent all my file back to ATOS but i had to wait in the line again. Also another ring to remember is the your local MP may also be helpful in helping you fight. I had contact with my MP back then because i was fed up of the wait, infact i cantacted him twice. I won't say what local MP it was at the time lol The support i had from this person was amazing i have to be honest. It certainly did make the DWP shift their !!!e smile

Thank you for your reply. I never knew this. So anyone can see our information and it could get lost. I'm now concerned as my month is up on Monday. I will ring them Monday morning to see because I will be really hacked off if they say I missed the deadline.

(So in my eyes if You post anything to DWP, post it at least over a week n half earlier than the deadline for them to actually receive it. ) I'm very anxious and stressed now as have to wait till Monday.

l posted mine 10 days before the deadline as l got things in motion as soon as your DLA is ending letter came through the door Sheri as l don't trust the DWP at all.

Yes anyone can see the info you send and this has always been the case. Scary and worrying that personal info can been see by anyone. 10 days before is ideal really because it's not classed as being recieved untill it reaches the correct department. This is worrying for those on a deadline. If you put your mobile number down then you'll recieve a text when it's recieved but not until it's put onto their computers.

Well I think I'm truely screwed then as my deadline is Monday and I never knew none of this. So I guess I'll just have to wait till Monday to ring them and see what the situation will be.
