who would have thought that foot ops can be so long in recovering?!
I still had the bump on my left foot straight after the first op, bump now fully removed (I think) but can no longer move the toe due to fusion, still very sore and swollen.
best wishes x

I am ten weeks tomorrow, bunionectomy, fusion and realignment, I saw the consultant about three or four weeks ago, he wasnt impressed with the outcome and did say that he didnt recommend another op as it would mean opening the same scar fot the third time.
walking can be difficult as it puts a lot of pressure on my ankle, I have anothe appt. the end of this month x

Dis you have the 2nd surgery with the same dr.?
Who is the consultan you refer?Â
What kind of hardware you have? My dr sid he put dissolvable screws but they do not show in the x rays taken after 7 1/2 weeks post op.
Your ankle hurts because you are putting pressure in the wrong place of the foot. It is the same case as me having the 2 toes very low and all the muscles very contracted.Â
Thank you Terrie. I will send you good vibs

I had the same surgeon for both ops, I havent seen him at my outpatient appts, I have only seen a consultant in the same team.
I have a screw, not dissovable, and a plate, got away with not having rods after the op!
My xray shows I have healed well and I really thought that I would be up and running by now, but having to elevate the foot a lot still!

I had to write you because your comments and struggles sound so close to home.
I had a bunion removed and a lapidus procedure on my left foot 8months ago, and I still have trouble walking and miss running and working out. I too have Ankle pain too. I'm so scared I have to go back under. I'm getting a second opinion from a really good dr.
Question for you:
When your barefoot do you still feel a big ball, bone like bunion on the bottom of your big toe?
Because I do and it forces me to stank lopsided.
Thank you for your time.

The only time I can walk normally is barefoot, nothing tight on my foot it's lovely!
I also have a bone at the bottom of my big toe, but that only appears when I have been walking for a while. Â I still walk woth a limp because of the pain and the feeling of the plate and screw is uncomfortable. I am still not in normal shoes either, I'm still wearing Ugg style boots and swim shoes!
Don't be scared to go under again, if it makes your foot look and feel better it will be worth it.
I dislike going under as I have tachycardia when the breathing tube is removed.
  All the best x

Coming round from anaesthetic is unpleasant isn't it ?!
I had a bunionectomy last December, the bunion wasn't removed correctly, only the side shaved off, but because I have arthritis in my big toe the consultant suggested have fusion, realignment and bunionectomy, that consultant promised my tie would be pain free!
All the best

The scar has healed really well, when I came round from the op the surgeon said that he had "off shot" the toe when fixing the screw and plate in and when setting the toe.
All the best
